    ...

Joe Vitt for the Head coaching position

Terry Fontenot for VP of Football

..they both have come form and learned from a great franchinse in New Orleans and would bring a wealth of experience and stability to the franchise.

    Thoughts?

The reason the Saints are a very good team is because of Sean Payton and Drew Brees. The Saints only became a winning organization when these two individuals arrived on the scene. As 2012 proved, without Payton as the HC, the Saints are not a very good team. Take Brees off the roster and the Saints would probably be the Miami Dolphins.

So, no thanks to Vitt and Fontenot, unless Payton and Brees are part of the package coming to the Dolphins.

Yeah you almost just want to completely disregard candidates from any of the teams that have an elite quarterback.

Everything looks like cakes and rainbows when you have an elite quarterback.

Jay Gruden is the candidate if we fire Philbin. I would love to get him.

I have never been crazy about hiring college coaches because the vast majority of them usually don't have much success in the NFL, if they had no previous NFL coaching experience. Yet I would certainly have no problem with Ross hiring Malzahn for the job.

I think he is an excellent coach and he would certainly bring the same type of excitement to the Dolphins that Chip Kelly has with the Eagles.

I don't want a college coach unless he is bringing something innovative like Chip Kelly did last year.

Gus Malzahn is just a football genius that has put every team he's ever coached in championship contention. Who needs that?

Doesnt matter. Stephen Ross has a mancrush on Joe Philbin. He is going nowhere.

Would Malzhan even come to Miami from Auburn?

Tom Heckert is the guy we want. I have a gut feeling he'll keep Philbin which if that's what Ross wants is all the more reason he's our guy. He could bring in say Brad Childress as OC maybe. I think Andy Reid would let him go for an opportunity like that since he seems to have kind of a BS job with the Chiefs now.

Would we really want Childress, though?

I'm very intrigued given the success of the Chiefs with the research he has evidently done to help the offense AND defense with integrating elements of the spread offense into game planning. I also think he's coaching tree compatible with Philbin and has had a pretty solid career. I don't see much downside.

ETA: He also, of course, worked with Heckert directly both in Philadelphia and in Cleveland. He has head coaching experience. He could be Heckert's security blanket in case Philbin ****s the bed and has to be fired midway through the season.
