The week where all of us, especially those in the New Jersey area, want a ****ing win a little more than any other week. Now, no one wants to talk about playoffs right now, but the fact is this game is HUGE in regards to a playoff spot. Both the Dolphins and Jets are two of the six teams currently fighting for that last spot. The Jets are pretty much the same exact team they've been for Rex Ryan's entire tenure. Their defense is very good, but if you can stop their run game, they are very beatable. Geno Smith has been struggling mightily lately, and I wouldn't even be surprised if he's benched for this game. My feeling right now is that I'd rather face him than Matt Simms because that whole new QB providing a team-wide spark thing concerns me. The Jets are a lot like the Panthers on defense. Their front 7 is studly, but their secondary, not quite. Of course, the Jets don't have nearly the fire power on offense that the Panthers have. I'm expecting the weather to be somewhat of a factor and it's something to keep an eye on as the week progresses. Windy, cold conditions could make it hard for the young QBs, and that would benefit the Jets mostly. Therefore, similar story for this game. Hopefully we can run the ball at least somewhat to take the pressure off of Tannehill, but Tannehill needs to make plays too. Receivers need to catch the balls. Mike Pouncey being healthy for this game would be a big plus. Defensively, shut down their run game first and foremost and put the game in the hands of their rookie QB. Whether it be Smith or Simms. Today's loss was painful. It sucked big time. But no time for sulking. It's Jets week! Fins up!!!
Anyone here going? I'll be there! (When I agreed to go we were looking like we'd be better than 5-6...should've known better with a Fireland run team...) Usually like to watch on HDTV but figured I'd go this year for the first time. DolfansNYC will have 700 in section 323 & 322. Giving out orange rally towels too! Doubt CBS camera pans up to show them though... I'm in 340 (I think). Hope to move over closer to them if Jets fans decide to stay home after their offense have two of the worst offensive games in NFL history against the Bills and Ravens.
This I like. I have rarely agreed with a damn thing you've said this season, but when it comes to Jets week, we are walking side by side!
I really wanted too, but money has been real tight this year. I plan on going next season, and if finances allow, I want to get to Miami for a game next year as well. Regardless, I'll be in my Tannehill jersey and sitting on my couch cheering my *** off.
I don't think are playoff chances got any worse after this loss, were tied for the last spot.and we still control our destiny
Yeah, DolfansNYC does get to sell tix for $65 though since its group discount I guess, which isn't bad for an NFL game (and cheap for sports in NY/NJ). As for the Jets...they have scored 1 TD in their last 31 possessions. Geno had like 6 completions today. The Jets are going into this game with a -101 point differential (yet are technically tied with the Steelers, Ravens, Dolphins and Chargers for the 6th seed...). That is NEGATIVE ONE HUNDRED AND ONE points. And Dolphins have the same record as them.... among those other mediocre 6th seeders as well, but still. Jets have a tough defense, but hopefully Dolphins take care of the ball. If you don't turn the ball over against the Jets to give them great field position, their offense usually can't march down the field. But knowing the Dolphins, they will let the Jets hang around even if Geno and the offense turns it over 5 times. Hoping its a blowout though like last year. But at the same time, the Dolphins are the only team not to score more than 27 points in a game this year. The Jaguars have. The Texans and Bucs have. The Jets have. Fail Goal offense for life under Jeff Ireland.
I expect a nice bounce-back this week and a win up in New York. I'm a little wary that the Ravens derailed the Jets from their every-other-game pace today. If the Jets had won or showed well against the Ravens today that really would have sealed the Dolphins victory next week in my mind.
Today showed me a team incapable of making the playoffs, IMO. That said, I hate the Jets. And Jets fans. A win this week makes happy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I can tell you this, if we don't take 3 of the next four get ready to see a whole new team next season and 3 more years of losing
Nothing can cheer up Dolfans like a win over the Jets! If we can sweep them somehow it will have been an ok season.
Yes it may be sad but 8-8 actually has a good chance at getting a playoff spot for the Steelers, Ravens or Dolphins. I'd bet on the Steelers, or well, whoever wins the game on Thanksgiving night between Balt and Pitt. One of these teams likely goes 9-7 though. Funny thing is the Dolphins have beaten the Bengals and Colts, the two likely 3 and 4 seeds (unless one collapses). I doubt they'd do it twice though. Nobody takes either one seriously. Colts have a suspect Defense and the Bengals are still the Bungles.
Really? Wow,ok to each his own but all our second half collapses havent seriously gotten to you yet? I`ll be there rooting them on Sunday with all I got ,but ....damn this team drives me nuts.
I already have tix for in the lower bowl, but I'd love to get in on some of those orange rally towels!! Any info on where this group is gonna tailgate or hand em out would be appreciated!
DolfansNYC will be in Lot L (Yellow parking pass). I think they enter the same gate as I'll be, Pepsi Gate. Could always bring an orange hand towel or something! Can be like those annoying Steeler fans for one week. (As if they invented waving something around at a sporting event....) They respond well to twitter and facebook comments if you need to ask them anything.
More info for those going! http://www.dolfansnyc.com/2013/11/25/2013-metlifetakeover/ Anyone whose been before, how many names can I expect to be called if I'm surrounded by Jets fans and not Dolphins fans? Next time I'll have to get tix with them.
I would put the entire coaching staff and Ireland on notice this week if I was Ross. If we can't beat the Jest with Geno Smith they would all be fired in the offseason. Period. This game should be a beat down, Geno Smith is the worst starting Qb in the entire NFL this year. If he beats us then this team and coaching staff has no confidence and no hope for the future. We have to win this game.
Chris ivory is banged up and might not play and geno smith is playing like the worst qb in the nfl now.No excuse to lose this game.
