If the jets let him go which seems highly unlikely at this point in the season, but if the jets tank it could happen.. Now with all this stuff about bully gate it going to be hard for joe to keep his job... Ross' hand might be forced... It would take something short of a miracle for joe and Jeff to be here next year.. Like div round.. Or something like that... But If the jets let Rex go I would be on that like a pack of wild dogs on a fox... Thoughts?

If the Jets tank....its likely that we swept them and have 2 more games to our win column. Which would make it increasingly more unlikely that our coach will even be fired.

I'm not sure a wildcard loss would save joe.. It's a pr thing now.. Not a football thing.. Unless something comes out that helps joe look better but right now Ross will be questioning joes leadership..

Further more this makes joe look unapproachable from a players standpoint... If there's a problem is joes door always open or are they worried he's the bully...

All foot fetishes aside, crazy promises, obnoxiousness, I believe Rex Ryan to be a very good NFL coach. He's done good things with the Jets. They were expected by most here (myself included) to be the worst team in the league and he has them beating teams like the Saints. I said way back when folks on this board still somewhat respected Sparano as coach that I'd much have Rex Ryan as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Would I rather have him over Philbin? I'm not so sure. Ask me after this season and bullygate plays out.

Yes, I'd absolutely hire him. He would do wonders for the defense and he gets the most out of his players. He'd finally have a quarterback.

I don't see the Jets letting him go though.

Great defensive mind. Yes. Definitely at DC.

    As HC? Maybe, maybe not.

I'd hire him to run my defense. Without even thinking twice. Dude is a great defensive mind.

I would have Chucky at HC & Rex as DC. Rex is an awesome DC as everyone has mentioned & I wouldn't want him as the centerpiece of my team. But I have to give it to Rex, his pressers are never a dull moment like your typical coach speak.

I don't see why people keep saying DC only. The Jets were supposed to be a train wreck yet somehow they're winning games the Dolphins couldn't win with pretty limited talent on the roster and a rookie QB. Yes he would need a good offensive coordinator but the guy can coach. I don't see him being a DC again.

Because it is an inherent trait of the Ryan clan that they believe offense is evil and ignore the needy ***** that it is . If it was up to them it would be defense vs defense.

Jets would be fools to give him up. That team seems to play better than their talent. If their new GM turns out to be good, they are going to be a dangerous team.

As head coach, heck no. Mangini built that team and all Rex has done is underachieved. Dc sure why not but a new OC is way more important.

Back to back AFC championships with a terrible QB is underachieving? I hope Miami starts underachieving soon.

They generally find ways to win games so who cares. I don't think he believes offense is evil. He's never had a QB in NY.

They had a great 2 year run and are playing good ball this year. I saw what his dad did to Randall Cunningham and I don't see Rex as any different. Nobody cares about the warts when you're winning. They were ready to kill him when they were losing and for the way he handled the QB situation this year. They lose, they'll turn. It's the same everywhere, including Pittsburch where the blood is in the water.

    I wouldn't..

Ck pointed out an example..remember when Rex Ryan told his players to fight Vernon Gholston on hard knocks?

Who was the last Miami coach better than Ryan? He's had one losing season as their coach. He took Mark Sanchez to back to back AFC championship games. Just think what he could do with your talent, especially on defense. You can only hope the Jets are dumb enough to let him go and he is dumb enough to come to Miami.

I agree. Not only is Rex a defensive genius, he is just as much a great motivator. Players bust their asses for him.

Ryan would be better than every coach we've had since Jimmy Johnson. He would need one hell of an OC to go to the Super Bowl though most likely, which is the ultimate goal instead of just playoffs.

Dave Wannstedt still is the best coach we've had since Jimmy Johnson...and that is saying something. If anyone competent was coaching the 2002 & 2003 Dolphins they would've been Super Bowl contenders. Instead they missed the playoffs (on tie-breakers! Just 1 more measley win against a bad team would've sent them in both years) with like 8 Pro Bowlers and the NFL's top Defense & Run Game. Didn't have a QB, but had everything else and maybe could've pulled it off with good coaching like the 2000 Ravens. Yet, he is still the best coach we've had since 2000.

    I like Rex Ryan's personality(with some reservations), and he's a good coach.

You need a strong offensive coordinator, though, and I think you're going to a more conservative style that the fans will cry about.

I'd hire him in a minute to be Joe Philbin's Defensive Coordinator, not Head Coach.
