Our advantage on SD is no kaput http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/article-1/Dolphins-Chargers-Game-Moves-To-405-PM-ET-Kickoff/421e5522-0b01-4bb5-96df-b16afe00fcab Maybe this belongs in the I'm done with the NFL thread, haha.
I like it. I don't think any team including ours like to play in the oven at 1 PM. It is too damn hot.
It's not going to be that hot or humid on November 17 anyway. I fwe're good enough, we should win. 1 or 4 deson't matter. Let's not make pre-excuses
That interview with the constant asking about Jonathan Martin. It sounds like the Dolphins, the way Philbin's tone/notes read, are possibly facing legal action.
I'm not talking about the heat about talking about the body and playing at 11p EST (what feels like 10a to them) as compared to 4p EST (what feels like 1p to them). Here's some data to back it up. I couldn't find the Chargers record, but when they played Jacksonville this year it came up and it was just absolutely abysmal. There win against Jacksonville was there first 1p East Coast win in their last 10-15 tries I believe. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/discomfort-zone-impact-travel-nfl-games/14372/
Does it matter when it comes to the #1 country in litigious actions? The legal system in the U.S. is nothing more than an out of control and dirty business. You can sue for anything and there's dozens of attorneys on TV and radio commercials every day giving everyone ideas on what they could latch on to for a lawyer to concoct a case. I have no doubt that some action will take place on this.
No, NFL players have pretty much signed away a lot of their rights in collective bargaining. There could possibly be some type of grievance through the NFLPA, but thats about it.
It's called "Creating a Hostile Work Environment". It is actionable and he could cash in nicely. With what is out there now there is no team that will touch him.
on what grounds? Bullying? Has Martin made a complaint? who was asking these questions? The local paper reporters who have been sublime in being negative and looking for a scoop? If its come from the Martin camp then i think putting Happy Halloween and dont believe all you read on Facebook isnt exactly saying its from the Martin camp. hmmmm.
Great, though tbh suspect this actually helps us as our D is not the best conditioned unit in the NFL, heat cuts two ways. Do think this smells of manipulation by the league to effect an outcome
If It comes down to legal action, Jonathan Martin won't be a Dolphin soon. Legal action would come from the NFLPA. If I were Martin I'd shut the **** up and get back to the locker room before he risks his NFL career.
It generally does. The advantage for the east coast team is when the west coast team plays at 1 PM. The advantage disappears when the game is later in the day.
This is good news for everyone involved. Especially those attending the game or trying to watch it on Tv. *We are 0-2 at home for 1:00 games and 2-0 in later games.
It doesn't change the cross country trip, which is the true disadvantage. Timing is easily maneuverable. That effects the fans out there more than anything. Not sure how I'd feel about my team playing at 10 am, probably not thrilled.
I just hope Dolphins @ Jets isn't flexed to Sunday Night Football (since I'm going and would rather go to a day game. And I still don't trust Miami in primetime). Current game is Giants @ Redskins... Because its Thanksgiving week, there aren't many games that seem as enticing. Titans @ Colts & Bengals @ Chargers would seem like the only other two options.
I always defend the 4 o'clock start time, the energy in the building is much much better for several reason, main one being there's more people in their seats earlier, two, half the stadium is not frying under the hottest sun in the country and drained of their energy, energy inside the building is what's most important for playin a home game..
I don't think it's the humidity as much as it's having to deal with playing a game at 1 PM when your inner clocks say it's 10 AM. But I completely agree with you, it's no excuse. If we want to be a playoff game we need to win games like that.
I think we lost an advantage also but that doesn't surprise me with the way the nfl screwed us over with our schedule this year. especially in September and December. and now that rivers is looking good again, and San Diego is playing well, they probably want to see them in a fight in the lowly west(in recent years) its a better talking point then watching the phins fight and possibly take out super Brady and the nfl darling patriots
