Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman’s play calling has come under criticism from fans and the media, and it has reportedly also been criticized by the Dolphins’ players. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that multiple players are questioning Sherman’s approach, and that guard Richie Incognito, in particular, is unhappy Sherman stopped calling running plays in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Patriots. Criticism of Sherman’s play calling goes beyond the players. According to Salguero, one unnamed high-ranking person within the team says Sherman misses fundamental, basic aspects of running an offense. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...gnito-other-dolphins-upset-with-mike-sherman/
brett favre made sherman. even then, favre just made up stuff on the fly because sherman's playcalling was so idiotic.
Armando Salguero......instant stir mongerer in the negative. I agree with Coggy though. Blatant going away from the run 2nd half against the Pats told me that Sherman isn't learning or knowing what isn't broke you don't try to fix. He's done it a few times and we've only played 7 games. Trying to outsmart yourself isn't clever especially when its putting the QB at risk when it wasn't warranted.
First it was Henning's fault the offense was so bad when Sparano was the HC. Now it is Sherman's fault the play of the offense has regressed in recent weeks. Funny how some players and unnamed high ranking Dolphin officials want to place the blame on the OC all the time, but not on the players who are dropping passes, missing blocks, and just basically doing a lousy job for the majority of the game on offense. I really don't care who the OC is. As long as he has to deal with the limited talent this team has on offense, he won't be able to do a better job than Sherman is doing. Henning resigned after the 2010 season and the Dolphins weren't any better on offense in the 2011 season. It's about the players and when you don't have enough quality players on your offensive unit, you aren't going to be very good. That is the case with the Dolphins at this time and has been for the last several years.
I actually agree with you on this. Ireland has not just done a great job on the offensive side of the ball. We look competent some games, but then we fade out. Outside of Charles Clay, Brian Hartline, and Brandon Gibson, Mike Pouncey, Incognito, maybe Ryan Tannehill, it's only halfway, if even, there. Our offensive line is the worst in the league, we have nothing special at the tight end position other than a serviceable Charles Clay, backs we can only mildly evaluate because of the offensive line play, a 13 million dollar a year receiver that isn't earning such. The inconsistent calling of the OC is just the icing. I will say this however, context is everything. Player(s)? As in one player? Incognito? Who made an observation about the play-calling in that specific game? I believe we all agree that Sherman abandons the run too early, but to suggest Richie is being rotten and mutinous, or plans to, over a stretch is a stretch in itself.
henning, daboll, and soon to be mike sherman are no longer offensive coordinators once fired by the fins. there is a reason for that. we had 3 great skill players the last 4 years (bush, marshall, and wallace) and we under-utililized all of them.
Anyone with a brain knows that Incognito wants to run the ball, what lineman doesn't want to run the ball 30-40 time a game? That ain't news. Where are the quotes about players being "upset with Sherman"? Here's Sherm talking about the PAts game: http://www.miamidolphins.com/multim...ts_Game_/b9ed0d9f-e0cd-49f2-8674-890c4f276d75
All 3 of those in a Phin uniform playing to their potential. Its nice to dream eh? Good Offenses have a powerful orientated Offense beit power run game, passing game....we havn't got either. We havnt got the players or coaching to plant our flag on what our Offense does best and go with it. Its pick and mix. Hard to dictate on Offense when it hasn't got any sort of consistency.
There's going to be a sea change either way. One will be with the team if they lose. The other will be with the media if the Dolphins win.
I dunno. I just don't think we're capable of doing that to the Bengals. Where they're weak, we aren't strong. Where we're weak, they are strong. I get that we've beat them the last few times around, including last year...on the road...with a seemingly weaker team. However, they're hot and we're cold. Like on fire hot and ice cold. If we win, it'll be a squeaker. We can't separate. Imcompetent coaching amd inconsistent execution..never equals coasting wins.
We seem to have their number we are 14-5 against them. We just match up well. I could easily see a win.
20 run plays in the first half, 7 in the second. And we ran the ball down their throats the whole game. Sherman screwed up.
We really don't matchup well with this bengals team tho. TEs scare the hell out of me. Giovanni Bernard scares me. We need the ginger to come out and play like crap. (He's been stellar past 3 weeks tho)
I mean sure. It's plausible. It's a national TV game. I can't imagine they aren't amped up to show the world they're the best AFC team.
here is how I see this ball club right now . Mike Sherman must go he flat is a bad coach just watch the big and you will see what I have tried hard to point his out but oh noooo Lord help us if someone who knows a conference is right . Tannehill if he was special he would already show it . he turns the ball over too much and he shows no signs of leadership. this ball club and here is what I really hate . this franchise gives up on good players and replaces them with sub par players. example 1 we let Welker, Chambers Ronnie and Reggie go and our tightends and oline sucks pure and simple . example 2 we all think that just because we have had too many coaches lately that we have the right coach right now. if players are unhappy and there is so much tension then we have some issues . Jeff Ireland should have been fired 3 years ago and our head coach has no life so our team reflects that.
Where is the leadership on offense with this team? I see none. I have a terrible feeling about tonight, just absolutely terrible and that hurts considering we started out so well. Bengals 30 Dolphins 10
I can see Sherman being fired and Philbin taking over the offensive play calling if the offense lays an egg. Philbin has to be worried about the dysfunction of the team. I still think we pull it out 28-24. Grimes will have a game saving pick
Disagree about Tannehill, I have seen flashes of greatness. Nobody can be consistent with that horrible line and Wallace dropping balls like they were covered with spiders. Agree on other points.
