- See more at PBP It was speculated that Martin was playing out of position at RT last year and that he would be more effective at his natural position of LT . I think we know by know that there has not been any marked improvement so we may as well put him back at RT and Mc Kinnie at LT. Clabo could be employed at the ticket entrance at the turnstiles which is his natural position.
Agreed. We need to put max pressure on Brady to even have a chance. We're averaging 22.5 points per game, so we need to keep NE to 21 or under.
Ouch! Funny though. Glad to see the management is trying something else at least. If this move turns out optimally, it could really make a difference.
Looking pretty obvious at this point that what's going to happen is Martin will move to right tackle and McKinnie will play left tackle. But might not happen until after the Bengals game.
^^^ that would seem like the best option to me - would give us the chance to improve at two positions on OL with one move - if all goes well.
if that's true, then we should just keep stuffing him. Get the guy up to 450 so that it takes so long for the DE to run around him that it would be the same as real pass protection.
I don't like that idea at all. IMO, he should start this week. He's been playing so he should be in game shape. I think he can learn the playbook well enough to be an improvement over Speed Bump.
Do you mean McKinnie will be at RT or that Clabo will play they next few games? Gotta be the latter, I'd assume.
McKinnie will be our LT for the Patriots game. Its not rocket science. Team isn't going to show anything during the period the press is allowed in there or say anything but you can bet the ranch Bryant McKinnie is now our starting LT. Clabo goes to the bench where he belongs.
I just can't believe it's come to this. I didn't expect Clabo to be as bad as he's been. He wasn't even a concern for me when I looked at our offensive line before the season started. I thought for sure that Pouncey, Richie, and Clabo would be the mainstays with Martin and of course Jerry being the question marks. Oh well I do think Mckinnie is an upgrade over Clablow, and it sounds like a good idea to keep him at left tackle and just move Martins dumb *** back to RT. Need to not try and re-invent the wheel with this situation and just keep it simple. Two upgrades with one player and a switch to the other side? Lets try it. After that we can throw Dallas Thomas in there in place of Jerry.
Practice report 10/22 McKinnie update Steve Ross, if what was reported is correct, meaning he sandblasted Philbin and Ireland after the loss to Buffalo and demanded that something, anything be done, speaks with our voice. Why we have stood pat with this offensive line up to now, with five preseason games and six regular season games of total ineptitude, is unexplainable. I guess fear of immediate consequences trumps fear of admitting you were wrong.
I think he meant to say he wants to get down to a svelte 355. He'll be so lean and quick he'll look like Gregory Hines out there.
Maybe we could put McKinnie out there in Section's shopping cart... that way it won't roll around that easily. Thoughts?
At the snap, in key situations, simply have Mckinnie stick both arms straight out causing the defender to run around him, sounds crazy, but potentially a more effective than Speed Bump attempting to block the defender with standard technique. I'm mixed on Ross's intervention, I believe it was needed as they seem quite stubborn and refuse to make changes, any changes, also think if it works Ross could turn into Bud Adams/Jerruh. Ross seems so laid back I'd bet the two of them were stunned..if reports are true..could also simply be misinformation to give the impression that Ross is not merely a snowbird owner and indifferent to the performance of the franchise aside from writing checks.
Having Martin replace Clabo at right tackle is like dying from drowning rather than dying by fire either way you end up dead
I really think it's more along the lines that McKinney really can't play RT than any real signature decision on what Martins capabilities are or are not...
They started John Jerry at RG when he looked to be not ready week 1, so I think Mckinnie starts Sunday.
You don't become a multi-billionaire by being stupid or by being stubborn when something obviously isn't working. And Bud Adams and Jerruh Jones teams have had a lot more success and Superbowls the last 20 years than ours. You also know when to step into employees asses when you think they need it, and Ireland and Philbin needed it after the BS of losing to the Bills, squandering a 3-0 start, and allowing Tannehill to take the beating he has.
Having one bad tackle is better than having two. If McKinnie can give Tannehill more room to maneuver or step up, or an extra second, then we're better off even if Martin is no better than Clabo at RT.
Practice report 10/22 McKinnie update I find it hard to imagine that anyone can be no better than Clabo. I think maybe even Columbo is better than Clabo.
Jones fired JJ, they have won 1 playoff game since then, TN went to the SB in 1999, he fired Fisher and they have not won a playoff game in yrs either. On the surface the demand to play Vince Young "Worked" he is still out of the league atm.
Both those guys consider themselves as "football" guys and meddle, or did in Bud's case, all the time. Jerry also acts as GM. Ross isn't a football guy and has largely stayed out of it, but he isn't an idiot. They needed a boot in the *** and they got it.
