Surprised that one of these hasn't been started yet, so here it is.

The 2013 MLB post season officially starts tonight in Pittsburgh(!!!) as the Pirates take on the Reds with the winner meeting the Cardinals. Tomorrow you have TB (boooooo) vs. Cleveland with the winner facing the Red Sox (YAY!!!!). You also have the Oakland A's vs. the Detroit Tigers and the Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers as the other division series match ups.

Here's a link to the whole MLB playoff schedule:

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb...md=20130928&content_id=62076888&vkey=news_mlb

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9631326/mlb-2013-major-league-baseball-postseason-schedule

So feel free to discuss the games and even make your predictions on who you think is going to be the World Series Champion in 2013.

    Anyway my predictions:

    What I THINK will happen:

    TB over Cleveland
    Boston over TB
    Detroit over Oakland
    Boston over Detroit

    Pittsburgh over the Reds
    St. Louis over Pittsburgh
    LAD over Atlanta
    St. Louis over LAD

    Boston over St. Louis

    What I WANT to happen:

    Cleveland over TB
    Boston over Cleveland
    Oakland over Detroit
    Boston over Oakland

    Pittsburgh over Cinn
    Pittsburgh over St. Louis
    Atlanta over LAD
    Pittsburgh over Atlanta

    Boston over Pittsburgh

I think Detroit will be a tough out! a
Though if anyone can do it, The A's can.

Dodgers are without Matt Kemp and most likely Andre Ethier and Hanley Ramirez is banged up again. Puig and Gonzalez will have to step up and be the offensive sparks.

As for St. Louis, they are without some big boppers or the postseason. I think they will bow out before the WS.

MLB's nightmare would be Pittsburgh vs. Oakland/Cleveland.

Their wet dream is Los Angeles vs. Boston.

Everybody is going to pick the Dodgers and I don't really blame them too much being that the Bravos haven't won an NLDS since the Clinton administration. Dodgers are banged up, we've got J-Hey back and Medlen has been hot lately so I think we've got a pretty good chance as long as BJ Upton and Dan Uggla remain firmly planted on the bench. Having the most dominant closer on the planet doesn't hurt either. I'm looking forward to seeing Teheran's first postseason performance this weekend. I'd love to see a Braves/Pirates '92 NLCS rematch.

I had been waiting for that long time Pirates fan to start the thread, lord know they earned it.

Suspect Reds top the Pirates tonight, think the Cardinals are being overlooked

I'm doing this from memory but since 2000 the only teams that haven't made the playoffs are the Blue Jays and Royals. And since that time only the Orioles, Marlins and Pirates have only made the playoffs once. So 25 out of the 30 MLB teams have made the playoffs multiple times in the past 13 years, while 28 of them have made the playoffs at least once.

Damn that's too bad. Crowd was beyond great last night. I'm hoping Charlie Morton isn't scheduled to pitch Friday, I want to see him throw in the playoffs.

Well besides from a shaky bullpen outside of Koji and Breslow, then yeah they're a pretty well balanced and good team. But even a great team can lose 3 games out of 5 or 4 games out of 7. The playoffs are a complete crap shoot.

    Bring on the Rays....

It is too bad Cleveland was 1 and done though, they would have been fun to root for ala the Pirates.

After seeing their record against good teams, I was pretty confident Rays would beat them. Indians weren't as good of a team as the pirates.

Agreed. I was rooting like crazy for the Indians but I knew deep down they didn't have a realistic shot. They were an average team that was fortunate enough to play in an easy division and had an easy schedule. Not taking anything away from them because they beat the teams they were suppose to beat but yeah if they played any of the AL division winners they probably would be 3 and done.

Really with the 2nd WC it gives major advantage to teams in poor divisions. There really should be balanced schedules but I'll get off my soap box now.

Probably for the best, while his teams usually win he's not a very good in game manager. Ditto for Ron Washington, who I still can't believe kept his job (for now).

I think it all depends on what kind of offers the Rays can get for him. If they get blown away like they did for Garza/Shields, they will probably move him, if not then they will keep him.

Hopefully he gets traded in the offseason to an NL club.

Sure, Rays are smart, they will never pass up a deal that is very smart long term. I love Price and wish we could keep him for 10 more years. But we have a plethora of pitching talent. I just think, unless they get blown away like you said, they will keep Price because outside of Cobb, they don't have a consistent starter if they trade Price.

I think trading Price is going to thin them out, I realize they have pitching talent outside of Price, BUT Nappy on the same level as Price?

The Rays really haven't had a good draft in a while, I think 2007 or 2008 might have been their last one where they had impact talent help them. A lot of it has to do with them drafting later on now since they have been winning. A lot of their good young players have come over via trades. Obviously there are pros and cons with keeping him too. Like you said the Rays FO is smart and won't pass up a good deal nor will they just give him away.

How many pitchers are their in the MLB that are on the same talent level as Price? Maybe 4 or 5? He's going to be hard to replace but that's the life of being a small market team.

Agreed. But we can have our cake and eat it too in this case. We can keep price this season and then trade him next year.

Yeah. Again though there are pros and cons with that. The return won't be as high because the team getting him will only get him for 1 year and of course what happens if Price has a bad year or if he gets hurt.

A lot of factors to think about. Being a GM isn't easy that's for sure.
