For 1st round pick. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9...ichardson-indianapolis-colts-according-source just came in from ESPN app crazy. I was just reading a thread on the Browns message board titles "Not Impressed With Trent" and another one "If not Weeden can Mark Sanchez be the guy?" Basically two of their first picks in round 1 in 2012 Draft are no longer starting for the Browns
Browns trade Trent Richardson to Colts Wow, didn't see that one coming. It's on NFL.com breaking news that he's traded for the Colts 2014 1st rnd pick.
Beat me to it! Can't understand the Browns trading him away, the Colts pick is unlikely (even more so now!) to be at the top of the 1st round. Great move for the Colts though, they now have two of the top three picks from last year's draft, and a big RB threat to take the heat off Luck.
Very, very surprising. A bit of a let down with the Browns so far, but it's barely been a season. I am sure he'll have success with the Colts. Damn.
Terrible trade, why the **** did the sign Bradshaw then? The guy looks very good against us. Richardson can't even stay healthy.
I get there is new management for the Browns but it is a bad trade for them IMO. Browns traded their 5th and 7th to move up one spot to get Richardson. And now they trade that, a 3rd pick overall value for a the 15-20 pick in the draft. You also have a hole to fill at RB. Richardson had a good year last year, 15 tds and 950 yards. They most likely are going to use a pick next year on a running back. IDK, I think its a bad trade on the Browns side. Colts got a potentially great RB for their first.
Re: Breaking News: Colts acquire Trent Richerson I think Richardson is overrated. The Browns oline is better than the Colts. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
Re: Breaking News: Colts acquire Trent Richerson There's word they may trade Gordon too. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
I think the days of getting first round type value on running backs in this passing league are over. But if a team is going to burn one, might as well do it on a young RB who has had some success in the league already. If I'm Jeff Ireland I'm on the phone with the Browns GM to see if they are willing to move Hayden for a pick...
Re: Breaking News: Colts acquire Trent Richerson Seriously. Especially before the Pats do. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
Just a bit perplexed that they would willingly give him up for what is surely to be a pick around 16 or higher. I don't know if I'd throw the white flag early but this still doesn't supplant Jacksonville from the #1 pick IMO
Manziel probably not. But they now have 2 first-round picks to maneuver up for an actual franchise quarterback now.
They are signing Willis McGahee to run through the monstrous gaps the dominant Cleveland O-line opens up.
Breaking News: Colts acquire Trent Richerson I don't think this makes sense for either team. For the colts, this wreaks of Irsay's flash in the pan style. He was probably bloated and high from guzzling Gin and Baby Batter.
I think the Browns did great to get a first round pick for a back that wasn't getting it done. Everyone is saying they are giving up on Weeden. Isn't he hurt though and that's why he isn't starting? Browns aren't far off, their defense is pretty damn good and they have Joe Thomas, one of the best LT in football.
I doubt the Browns could have gotten a first round pick for Richardson from another team other than the Colts.
The browns are gonna suck and have a top pick to draft QB. Maybe trade for teddy. Defense is good, add weapons, good coaching staff...BOOM, good team. Hardesty was better than Richardson when he played last year.
The Cleveland beat writer on NFL Network said the trade was more about not thinking Weedon is the answer than about any dissatisfaction with Trent. Trent was just the most valuable commodity they had. And getting that additional #1 gets them ammo to move up and get a franchise QB. Even though Weedon is out now b/c of the thumb injury, he hasn't really impressed the coaches and may not regain his starting job when healthy.
I dunno.. I look at Weeden.. then I look at Tannehill... and they've both been in the league for the same amount of time. One injury, and now all of a sudden they are giving up on Weeden? Man, if Tannehill had sucked those first two games and gets a thumb injury, are we doing the same thing? Glad we don't have to answer that. The Browns were favored over us. Some in Cleveland thought they'd make a run this year. 2 games is not a lot of time to give up on the team, if this is what they are calling it. interesting that we played both the Browns and Colts eh?
I think that's the key. People want their own guys. That was why I was saying earlier that if Ireland was fired that we might be looking at a new coach/QB too. Personally, I like Weedon and think it's too early to give up on him, but if there's a guy in this coming draft they really love then that might be the impetus behind the move. In fact, I half expect that before and after the draft we'll be hearing about the guy they've been scouting since Lombardi got there.
The rich get richer... the poor get poorer... unless they make good use of their draft picks for once. I hate the fact they did this deal with the Colts though. Nice they did it after playing us, but the move just stinks IMO. Just further sets Luck up to be the NFL's golden boy for the future Lombardi sure is cleaning house though. Wonder which QB their going to target in the draft. Should be interesting to follow.
I don't think this is a great deal for the Colts. This reeks of Irsay just liking the flashy name, flashy move and overpaying for it. Just like he did with Vontae. Richardson is a good back, but he has not shown himself to be very good, let alone great. And he is going to a worse offensive line than the browns. IMHO spending a 1st round pick for a back who has shown to be good but not great is a gross mismanagement of resources. Browns side, they have a new regime and are looking for picks to start anew. This was a ballsy move and i think it is a good move, and they did it early, so they have time to plan. They now have ammo to grab a QB from what looks like a nice QB class coming.
Weeden will be 30. Tannehill will be 25. Hypothetically, Weeden would groom himself into the system and then what? Retire? Better off setting themselves up for a fresh signal-caller.
I think they're giving up on Weeden. He has not been very good for them. He was supposed to be the most ready QB outside of Luck, which is why he was a worthy gamble in spite of his age. Yes, he was older, but he was supposed to be ready to start and excel. He wasn't. So, the new staff says eff it. Running backs are overrated across the board, let's get a first for ours. Then we'll start Hoyer over Campbell. They know Campbell will never be anything more than a back up. They figure let's see what we have in Hoyer. If he blows, we'll have the ammo and draft spot to move up for a QB. If he doesn't suck, then we can move up for Clowney.
I think this kinda goes back to what many on here (myself included) felt about Weeden. It's fine if you pick him, but you have to believe that he will be good right away. It's not a good spot to have a 30 year old QB if you don't know if he is your future. Getting a 1 for Trent is great. It's not Lombardi's fault that he was drafted too high.
