Ok. So I've tried this once before and it took me for ever and a lot of holes to get it. Here I am a year later trying it again. Alright one set of holes went bad. I go buy a stud finder, and I can't even figure this thing out. As far as I can tell by the instructions(not a single word, all pictures) the way it's lighting up when I slide it. It seems a stud is right where my first set of holes are. But then why wouldn't my mound hang and why wouldn't the screws hit it? Just makes no sense to me. Please help?!!
Just lightly knock on the wall with your knuckle until it doesn't hollow. The other studs are generally 16 or 24 inches from that one.
I tried that....Unfortunately that is why I have 1 set of holes already. Either my wall has no studs, or I just cant hear for ****...
THIS IS SO F***ING HILARIOUS IF YOU DONT READ THE THREAD TITLE!!! You should hit Fin-O up. He'll help you find a stud in no time.
Heres what you do.... You have a general idea of where the stud is...grab a pencil for this 1) Then go say a foot to the right of it and begin to slowly slide it to the left....when it beeps, lights up whatever it does to indicate the stud, mark it with a pencil....that is the outside right side of the stud 2) Then go about a foot to the left of it, and do the same thing except go right...so slowly slide the finder to the right and it will again light up mark with a pencil....that is the outside left of the stud 3) In between those two marks is the stud....afix whatever you are doing in between those 2 marks.... 4) Get drunk and boss out like Bob Vila... Makes sense?
I thought he was asking for a stud for a specific sex position. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
you can look for things already hanging to find a stud. Also cheaper places have them further apart to save money so it could be that as well.
I can't use stud finders.......everytime I hold one it won't stop ringing........ (Drum roll) I'm here all week folks! Tip the bartenders! Seriously.......... When you hit a stud it should go off and a standard two by four is just that ......2 inches. Maybe you have metal studs? OR.........If its an outside wall , a wall that is the outside of the home on the otherside, sometimes there is not a stud. Only interior walls have studs sometimes. here in Florida , CBS homes (concrete brick stucco) is the norm. No studs anywhere on the perimeter. Just a thought.
Here's a cheap and extremely effective stud finder. http://www.amazon.com/CH-Hanson-030...F8&qid=1376006675&sr=8-1&keywords=stud+finder Has been very useful for me whether wanting to run speaker wire, mount picture frames, or shelving, etc.
