Only significant reports are that Will Davis picked of Pat Devlin (again) on a pass intended for Jeff Fuller, and he also had a nice PBU on a Tannehill pass intended for Brandon Gibson. Guy is a PBU/Pick machine. Also Jamar Taylor is fully participating, finally. Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline continue to sit. Wallace is working with trainers on his lower extremities but still no word on his exact issue. Hartline clearly a calf strain...which was the issue he had last year at training camp. He was supposedly slow to heal from last year's calf strain because of the complications from the appendectomy. Guess we'll find out if that was the case or if his calves are just slow to heal. Also it's probably not significant as it's just one rep in pit drill but Perkins says Dion Jordan blew by Dallas Thomas and that his speed is looking better every day. That's probably because he's losing another pound of his weight every day, lol.
It's all good man, why are we all stressed, samuda taking Jerry's place, I'm good with that...everything else is normal, Richie back to his position... Like bokamper said, Samuda is a bull.
so who is it, who is the player you are the most excited to see, for me it was wallace, but i'm getting the impression he won't play...really sucks, but its dion jordan now and lamar miller and will davis as well
I think Davis may end up being one of those natural play makers. If the coaches can scheme to his strengths and hide his weaknesses, he could be one of those young guys that gets on the field and wins us a few games this year.
What?!?!??!?!?!?! How can this be?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?? I thought the oline was in constant flux?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?
I wonder how much weight Dion is going to lose during camp. I wouldn't be surprised if he looked like he's getting faster every day because he actually is.
Josh Friedman @Friedo790 4m Brian Hartline now with ane icepack on his left calf. #Dolphins Ugh our receivers having a hard time not getting nicked up.
Barry Jackson said that Will Davis just snagged his third interception...OF THE DAY. He now has five interceptions in the last three practices. Yowsa.
Not worried about Hartline. He was literally on death's door up until the last week or two of preseason last year.
I'm really expecting McNutt to make the team, and I fully think he'll help that case this Sunday...can't wait! Also want to see how Jordan/Davis do.
All kinds of interesting updates. So Will Davis poked a ball out of Brian Tyms' hands for a 2nd PBU on the day (in addition to 3 INTs) and then he also defended a pass intended for Jeff Fuller for his 3rd PBU of the day. That's 3 INTs and 3 PBUs in one practice. And he just dropped a would-be 4th interception. He's all over the damn place. Dion Jordan is being rushed from both sides now, so he's going up against Clabo. No word on how it's going. Olivier Vernon beats Jon Martin badly for a sack. Then beats him for another sack. Martin also tripped and fell during a pulling drill. Having a rough day.
Dion Jordan, Jamar Taylor, will Davis, Dallas Thomas, Dion sims, mike Gillesslie, don jones, Chad Bumphis, Marvin Mcnutt, AJ Francis, Mike Clay.. The movement of Ellerbe and Wheeler, their movement, their physiques.
Have we finally signed someone who can grab the ball? It'll be interesting to see what he does in preseason.
James Walker @JamesWalkerESPN 6m Interesting note: #Dolphins Dion Jordan is getting reps on BOTH SIDES at DE today. He's now going against Clabo. Good matchup.
A guy from WQAM says that's officially 3 sacks Olivier Vernon has on Jonathan Martin today. Guess he got jealous of Dion Jordan having 4 sacks on Martin in limited snaps over 2 practices. Felt he needed to up his game. Good of Martin to be so kind as to oblige him.
His metabolism is so high CK the point is valid..I've see so many pics of his body, and the vascular system he has directly can signal what type of body fat % and metabolism were dealing with here..and it's very high and his skin is very thin..the great thing is his joints and frame are thick, and his musculature is dense...this is a strong player even at 250.. I don't mind him putting on solid muscle every year instead of eating like shi) just to gain weight.. This year he plays at 250, next year after a good offseason he adds 5 lbs of muscle, after that maybe a couple more a year for a while..personally I don't believe this player with his body type needs the extra fat to be a better player.
I believe his body fat percentage was actually recorded and it was something completely foul like only 3%. So you're right about that. To steal a line from Jaws, "What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks, and that's all."
We have to be exploring the trade/waiver market, no? I have no idea of who might even be available but there have to be other options out there.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk 2m Ellerbe having left leg examined by trainer. Kinda shielded. Appears more than getting tape/re-taped. We'll see.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk 28s Ellerbe put left shoe on. Appears to have had ankle taped. Odrick still not carrying helmet. Appears done for day.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk 5s 2 def v 1 offense. Jordan shoves Martin backward on 1st down. Martin does well on 2nd down.
This could be a COMPLETE coincidence but an inordinate number of Will Davis' interceptions seem to be coming in the end zone. The two prior to today were in the end zone and at least one today was in the end zone. That could be just because they're working so much on end zone work. Probably the most likely explanation. However something I was toying with earlier was, if you're trying to figure out a way to get this guy on the field, why not consider only putting him on the field when your opponent gets inside your 25 yard line? His weakness in college was the deep ball. He's quick as a bug but he doesn't have great top end closing speed and his aggression sometimes gets him about a step behind and then someone makes a big play on him on an underthrown football. He has some trouble dealing with guys who can climb the ladder, down the field. If you get him on the field at your own 25 yard line then the field itself helps cover him up. Just a thought.
He'll bulk up over time, but really he is the sort of Anti Cam Wake b/c he forward and reverse gears, Kraken is more like a dragster. Problem with all this is, we gambled and took Jordan over a LT, I agreed with it then and agree with it now, however to make that move payoff Martin has to do better then he is doing. Wake/Jordan I can see beating him, OV did okay v Clabo, but is destroying Martin. OL Coach Turner needs to have a prayer meeting with the lad with "shape up or be demoted" being the theme.
I think the limited amount of field behind him would lend itself to his aggressiveness and instincts. Is that what you are getting at?
Thinking about Elerbe going down has me ****ting bricks, the depth is terrible at inside LB. Re-sign ZT lol
I think it's a good thought. His strength is short area quickness and an ability to break on the ball. That use capitalizes on his strengths and shields some of his weaknesses (He's also not a great tackler).
