- The team video guys learned a metric **** ton from the Hardknock guys. - My god the old colors are effing hideous now. They need to burn all video from minis/otas - I am officially on the the bandwagon of calling Tannehill, RTIII based on your sig.
Re: Wow, I´m so pumped up after this.... It looks like they upgraded their equipment more than anything.
Re: Wow, I´m so pumped up after this.... Probably some but it's not like they were being coached by HBO. If they were lucky then maybe they were PAs during the show. I'm sure they know what they are doing. But this video wouldn't be hard to replicate. Looks like a Canon 7D or 5D and a few primes with probably some sort of stabilizer system. But hey, I do this for a living so it looks simpler to me. I'm just thankful the team utilizes media production like they do.
Totally disagree. I worked in production for awhile, TV commercials then around comedy shows, and TV pilots... this is DEFINITELY using a LOT of HBO templat. - the shot sequence - the sped up exteriors at the beginning - the low camera with up-angles at the players to crteate gladiator feel - martial music with dramatic crescendo - following helmets held in hands - dripping sweat extreme closeups mixed with wide shots, great shot framing variety i the ratios and order of most HK openings - voiceover style and timing - storyline of a team coming together, positon battles, only 53 can make it is template HK - I could go on for another ten piints and that's the point. - wide angle lens shots (fish eye) - personal moments between players This is entirely emulated from HK. I'm impressed as hell. Questions: 1) Are the Dolphins planning to do a longer, more in depth series over training camp and preseason? Our own mini-HK? I sure hope so. 2) Were Dee and Ross smart enough to have planned to accept HK because our internal video guys could study and learn with the HBO cameramen? I mean, that's brilliant. We are HBO-trained and I'd say we have the BEST multi-media department of any NFL team at this point (consider the Finsiders too).
I'm sure there was conversations and watching and what not. It just seems night and day from stuff before Hardknocks came to town. Then again, I'm not in the industry like you.
The dolphin network...don't see why it wouldn't work...just need to get the rights from the NFL. I suppose
Oh, and yeah I saw the shot of wake Alex, it's so yesterday's news, but as you can see, the perfect football player..give him a raise.
Re: Wow, I´m so pumped up after this.... A lot of these shots are easier to replicate now thanks to the rise of video on DSLR. It was creative but not as ground-breaking as you're making it. I would argue with you more but I'm on my phone. You said you used to work in production, but when did you stop out of curiosity?
Re: Wow, I´m so pumped up after this.... They probably started planning things out more than anything. Pre-production is vital with stuff like this. I am curious what their video team is paid though.
I don't think saying they've learned to shoot and edit video like another entity already shooting and editing video that way is the same thing as saying something is groundbreaking. All we are saying is that after being around the HK guys, they are producing video similar to the HK guys.
Re: Wow, I´m so pumped up after this.... Just emulating their style is what it looks like. Based on music videos and stuff they've done, I think they always had the skill set needed to produce the content. It probably just took HK to show them how much planning goes into it and a few techniques (timelapses and slow motion video primarily) can go a long ways.
Well, anything where they imitate something that exists isn't gonna be ground-breaking. I t think you look at it in the context of the quality of videos this team and other internal NFL video depts usually put out. A big leap for that kind of department. In terms of the technological argument, to me that's like saying, this painting is not an imitation of Chagall because the paints used are available to lots of people. But if the way those paints are used produces something with the style and a dozen or more varaiables that imitate CHagall, then it goes beyond the media and equipment used, you know? I stopped about two years ago, in terms of working with directors and writers and producers here. But my intensive period (where I was in the post suites a lot) was more 2001-2005. I'm sure a ton has changed in post effects and stuff (was just talking an editor about this on 4th of July weekend). It's amazing how much stuff advances so quickly now. The other thing I noticed the Phins doing better now is... if you watch their Training Camp preview with Jesse and Congemi, they've goosed the color some. Always used to do that when we shot in Miami to get nice popping blues for the water. In this case it's popping our aqaua and the blue eyes etc. They've gotten savvy about improving back end look and pic quality. Still, I don't see how you could watch the first 3 minutes of any HK and then that Dolphins video and not say they are following a recipe card for shot selection, framing, lenses, pacing, music and V.O. Though I agree, it's not revolutionary by any means.. except at Davie. lol.
He's not the 3rd though is he? I've never seen it anywhere else that he is. I see Wikipedia does now too. But heck, anyone could put it on there. I've just not seen it from any legit source.
Someone has changed his Wiki to say Ryan Timothy Tannehill X. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Tannehill That said I don't like RTIII. He is his own man. No need to piggyback off of RG3.
I dont see any reason why they cant make a deal with SunSports to air Dolphin-programming. The Heat do it, maybe its because of the deal with CBS and Sunsports is Fox Affiliated?
In the first line only, it has his name with III at the end. His dad's name is Tim. Timothy is Ryan's middle name. His dad may go by his middle name. It happens sometimes. I'd just like to see something besides Wikipedia and someone's forum sig as verification before I get on the bandwagon. The Dolphins media guide and official web site does not make mention of it that I have seen.
Seems like a pretty big coincidence that while we are posting about it, his name is changed from III to X. Who ever is changing it is a real dick head.
I'd rather have Ryan Robert Peter Griffin Tannehill the third. Then we can have RG3's legs, Tannehill's body, with Peter Griffin's head on the avatar.
