I'm calling it....GOTY 2014 http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/13/e3-2013-the-witcher-3-defines-next-gen Ok, maybe not GOTY, but if the free roam is truly "free Roam" then it has to be a contender. Wither 2 was AWESOME...one of my favorite games in the last 10 years. Haven't enjoyed an RPG like that since FF 10. These games are beautiful, intense, and have an incredible story. I'm super psyched to see the Wild Hunt story unfold. THIS is the game I am most looking forward to on PS4.
Really excited for this one. As you said, Witcher 2 was an amazing game. Easily one of the best I've played since the early 2000s with games like Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights.
Yeah I bought Witcher 2 on a Stram sale, but never beat it. Since I've started skyrim, doesn't look like I will either lol
I'm not a Witcher fan, but the ability to import your save from Witcher 2 is a nice feature. It was one of the Suikoden games' best features.
Both are equal but different in my view. I liked Skyrim a lot, played it a lot, but never finished it. Played the witches 2 and about creamed my pants. For me, the Skyrim story wasn't engaging. I'm sure a large part of thy is because I wander aimlessly and enjoy the superb world they made. But the characters, and storyline...meh. The witcher 2 had a prettier world, but it was pretty linear. The Story line and characters though we're amazing. If they can retain that same quality of storytelling, and provide an open world to explore, then this game is going to be special.
I love the Witcher but I'm much more excited to see this new engine applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 license.
I've always thought Skyrim overrated. Huge world, lots to do. But the story wasn't very engaging as been pointed out already, and most of the side quests were typical RPG kill and fetch quests. The story in Witcher 2 was great. Side quests were much more unique and engaging. World beautifully crafted. If Witcher 3 can keep all of that while being open world, it will be another big step in RPG gaming. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
Why because you enjoy tanky movement controls, sluggish combat, convoluted RPG structure, & swapping equipment out for 50% of your time spent playing games? I will say though....the animations in Dark Souls 2....they look about as good as the very first Witcher game.
It may sound silly, but that's a big reason I've never played those games, lol. Watched my brother plug his way through, but can't get immersed when I feel like its a robot running around. Weird that something so small like that stocks out so much.
