You may include a brief write-up to justify your choices for GM of the Year as well the 'Best Of' categories. For a more detailed look at the teams, please go to this thread. First off congraulations to everyone this year. It was a very strong year participation wise and talent wise. For the most part everyone was extremely active and knew what they were doing. I know there are talks of making some changes for next season, but honestly I believe the way it is setup now is perfect. I liked the realistic salary cap and cap numbers. I think cap penalties could really put a damper on the activity of the league. Anyways, Thank you GIK, Mach and all the other mods for doing a great job.

    GM of the Year
    1. Jacksonville Jaguars
    2. Tennessee Titans
    3. Miami Dolphins

Jaguars took the worst roster in the league and turned it into a contender, great job. Titans don't have the best roster, but i think they did one of the best overall jobs in FA, draft, and trades. The Dolphins are always the easiest team to have as everyone over values the players, but they kept the nucleus together and put together a complete team.

    Team on the Rise
    St. Louis Rams

The way I vote for this award is the team with the most young talent. Rams won't be superbowl contenders this year, but have young studs at every position and could be a force in a few seasons

    Team Built for Now
    Houston Texans

With Peyton this team is in win now mode. Play makers on both sides of the ball.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
    Cary Williams

With the prices of starting CBs in FA reaching over $5mil, Williams is a good deal at $2m

    Draft Steal of the Year
    DJ Hayden

Possibly going as high as #3 if the Raiders didn't trade back. This was really hard to choose

    Trade of the Year
    Eagles/Panthers

This trade benefited both teams well. Panthers were able to use the extra 1st to get Megatron and Eagles built their offense around Newton

    Best in Trades
    Buffalo Bills

Not easy to make the Bills have a respectable roster, but through alot of activity moves he was able to win more than he lost, even if most of them were lateral moves

    Best in Free Agency
    Minnesota Vikings

This one was real tough and could go to any of the 5

    Best in Draft
    Tennessee Titans

Great value at almost every pick. LOVE the Cyprien pick, Manuel was a steal. Added arguably 6-7 impact players

    Fued of the Year
    Van vs Venge

Provided some nice entertainment for a few days

    Most Improved GM
    Sean

No disrespect meant to Sean, but in the past he wasn't always the best in trades. This year I thought he did a great job and was one of the best GM's.

    Rookie GM of the Year
    VanDolphan

6 great candidates, but I think the Bills had the toughest road and did a good job. Hopefully all 6 will be back next year

    Best Offense
    Seattle Seahawks

A very well rounded offense. I don't love the individual WR/RB much, but as a whole its a great unit

    Best Defense
    Philadelphia Eagles

This was tough as I can make a case for all 5. Every one of the teams had 1 unit that was lacking that made it really tough. Love the eagles DL and CBs, but the LB are a little lacking. Almost went with Houston but don't love the secondary.

    Best Offensive Weapons
    Cincinatti Bengals

I hate voting for myself, but in my opinion the bengals have by far deepest and most talented group of weapons

    Offensive Line
    Tenneesee Titans

Toss up between GB and Titans, but I went with Titans because the Packers weakest link (Meester), is worse than the Titans but a really tough call

    Best Front Seven
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

LOVE the David/Jarvis Jones duo a think they have a good deep DL. I also think they started out with the least talent of the contenders in this group and made their front 7 just as good

    Best Secondary
    Philadelphia Eagles

There is one player in each of the 5 that is a weakpoint. I'm going with Eagles since they started with the worst secondary of the 5. Almost went with Vikings, but can't with their lack of a true #1 CB

Prom Queen (1st Place) - Jacksonville Jaguars- BDOG! Lets face it...I may have been forced to take the Bills.....but at least folks around here know them from the division. The Jaguars are the team that if you ask folks to name all 32 teams....would be the last one mentioned ....if even remembered. A team that makes the original Bills roster look almost respectable! Always respectful and willing to make time for others......even those who are laying it on very thickly *cough*looksaround*cough*. Shrewd trader. Knows what he wants and sticks to the principal. Built a respectable, roster from the ashes of nothing.

Edit: Apparently didn't read the fine print. Got to add a 2nd/3rd place. If I were griddles I'd fix that original post to state you can't vote all 3 spots to the same team...........before schisno does it ;p

Voted Most Likely To Succeed (2nd Place): UCFinfan86. For a league that prides itself on offensive skill players..... UCFinfan86 built the powerhouse of powerhouse offenses....and you didn't even see it coming till they dumped 50 points on your defense, stole your MVP award and F'd your girlfriend.

A/V President A.K.A. weekend D&D game master (3rd Place): Seattle. Mistook 'build a team' as 'pick an all star league team roster'.

    Team on the Rise
Tennessee Titans - Great job. GM once made a quote that we were "targeting the same players"......would have to fully agree. Going to make more of an effort to work with next year.

    Team Built for Now
Houston Texans - Anyone making a trade for Peyton is definitely laying down the ultimate claim to "win now". Nuff said.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Cary Williams, CB - $2.0M - Houston Texans - Starting Superbowl CB paid less then my backup guard. Winner winner chicken dinner!

    Draft Steal of the Year
Kyle Long, OT, Oregon - Seattle Seahawks (GML, 3.071 - NFL, 1.020) - Honestly could have gone with a tie with Houston, but he's already got my vote for the previous 2 and I'd have a hard time explaining why I didn't vote him as GM of the year if I go 3 in a row here ;p We knew the 3 main tackles would go high....but when the hell did tackle become such a huge position that the 2nd tier of tackles go top 20. Boggles the mind.

    Trade of the Year
    Jacksonville Jaguars & Atlanta Falcons
Tom Brady for Matt Ryan and 2.062 - Jags not only have the balls to make a hard play for Brady...but turn around and re-trade him for long term stability. Shrewd.

    Best in Trades
Buffalo Bills - Ah screw it. It's my GM persona to vote for myself........plus it was my favorite part of the GML...wheeling and dealing.

Best in Free Agency (DOES NOT INCLUDE STREET FREE AGENTS)
Minnesota Vikings (Notable Signings: Jairus Byrd, Desmond Bryant, Domenik Hixon, Manny Lawson) - I got 2 firsts for that first FA. Damn straight I'm voting it ;p Plus some solid moves with tight cap room.

    Best in Draft
Tennessee Titans - Didn't have quite as much to work with as say GB or Miami but comes out with several starters. Plus I love me some Cyprien.
1.010 - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
2.041 - Jonathan Cyprien, FS, FIU
2.064 - Giovanni Bernard, RB, North Carolina
3.072 - Corey Lemonier, DE, Auburn
4.105 - EJ Manuel, QB, Florida State
    4.107 - Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut
5.130 - Cornelius Washington, DE, Georgia
7.202 - Vince Williams, LB, Florida State
7.208 - Michael Mauti, LB, Penn State

    Feud of the Year
BuckeyeKing vs GML Draft - Easy to vote for Odin and I's WWE antics....but when it came to pure laughs for me.....BK made the draft wait more tolerable with his constant backstabbing of himself.

    Most Improved GM
-Pass since I wasn't here last year.

    Rookie GM of the Year
VanDolPhan. Was trying to be humble and vote up others...well everyone else is voting for themselves so...score! ;p

    Best Offense
Cincinnati Bengals - The Bungles no more!

    Best Defense
Seattle Seahawks - What can I say...they got seriously young, stud, pro bowlers and willing to attempt a 3-3-5. Balls.

    Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE)
Cincinnati Bengals (RB - Ray Rice, WR - Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Stedman Bailey, TE - Jermaine Gresham, Martellus Bennett) - 1500 yards on the ground, 1500 yards in the air and that's before you get to the 3rd guy even. It's a dream...yet a nightmare to figure out how to spread the ball around and keep everyone happy.

    Best Offensive Line
San Francisco 49ers (OT - Joe Staley, Anthony Davis, OG - Mike Iupati, Jah Reid, C - Jonathan Goodwin) -Eh...thought my OL could have easily cracked into that top 5 as the best run blocking unit. But pound for pound San Fran's line is beast mode.

    Best Front Seven
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DE - Adrian Clayborn, Michael Bennet, DT - Kevin Williams, Mike Patterson, OLB - Lavonte David, Jarvis Jones, MLB - DeMeco Ryans) - Your welcome for Lavonte back ;p

    Best Secondary
Philadelphia Eagles (CB - Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Sheldon Brown, FS - Kenny Phillips, SS - Kam Chancellor) - I'd expect Rex Ryan to jump ship just to have his secondary back!

    GM of the Year
    1. Jacksonville Jaguars (Bdogtitan11) - We felt that the Jaguars really improved their team from top to bottom and will definitely be able to compete in their division this year. This says a lot based on they finished 2-14 in 2012. The fact that the Jaguars were able to acquire Matt Ryan then give him some playmakers in Doug Martin, Stevie Johnson, Brian Hartline, Cecil Shorts. I know that they had nowhere to go but up however the fact that they are now a playoff caliber team says a lot.

    2. Cincinnati Bengals (UCFinFan86) - The Bengals are a team that we felt won their trades, they found a few good deals in free agency, and drafted pretty well. They did all they could to give Andy Dalton plenty of weapons to work with in Ray Rice, Brandon Marshall, and Demaryius Thomas. Not too mention a good one-two combination at tight end in Jermaine Gresham and Martellus Bennett. Overall UCFinFan86 did a fantastic job.

    3. San Francisco 49ers (wakeupitsfootball) - It's always a difficult situation to take over a team that seemingly has few holes and make them even better... the rookie GM, wakeupitsfootball, seemed to do just that. While he decided to put his faith in Alex Smith at quarterback, you cannot say that Smith won't have enough targets to throw to. Maurice Jones-Drew, Greg Jennings, Eric Decker, Randall Cobb, and Vernon Davis... behind the best offensive line in football. That's scary and will make an above average quarterback like Alex Smith look great.

    Honorable mentions: Paul 13, Sean

    Team on the Rise
Miami Dolphins - Young team that will go as far as Tannehill takes them... could win division this season.

    Team Built for Now
Cincinnati Bengals - Very scary offense, should be a Super Bowl favorite right now.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Cary Williams, CB - $2.0M - Houston Texans - Fantastic value considering how much other cornerbacks were going for.

    Draft Steal of the Year
DJ Hayden, CB, Houston - Miami Dolphins - Hayden went #12 overall but he wasn't getting out of the first round, period.

    Trade of the Year
Atlanta/Jacksonville {Tom Brady/Matt Ryan trade) - This was the biggest trade for Jacksonville that made them a ten year contender rather than a three year contender.

    Best in Trades
Philadelphia Eagles - They won a lot more than they lost, overall their team looks very good because of this.

    Best in Free Agency
Pittsburgh Steelers - They were aggressive and got who they wanted early, I can't help but respect that.

    Best in Draft
Miami Dolphins - DJ Hayden, Le'Veon Bell, Kiko Alonso were the highlight picks but Sharrif Floyd, Jamar Taylor, and Justin Hunter round out a very strong class.

    Feud of the Year
BuckeyeKing vs GML Draft - Can this guy catch a break? At least he got Stafford.

    Most Improved GM
sports24/7 - He really won a lot of his trades and overall improved a lot from past years... definitely one of the better GMs this year.

    Rookie GM of the Year
wakeupitsfootball - Fantastic job by this rookie but I think ALL the rookie GMs did great this year!

    Best Offense
Cincinnati Bengals - As mentioned previously, scary offense.

    Best Defense
Miami Dolphins - Overall the Dolphins defense is the most well-rounded with a good mix of young and experience.

    Best Offensive Weapons
Cincinnati Bengals - Ray Rice, Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Jermaine Gresham, and Martellus Bennett, 'nuff said.

    Best Offensive Line
San Francisco 49ers - Dominating offensive line, period.

    Best Front Seven
Miami Dolphins - The addition of Trent Cole really puts this front seven over the top, especially if Dansby, Burnett, and Misi play as well overall as they did in 2012.

    Best Secondary
Seattle Seahawks - A very deep secondary with no real weakness anywhere.

    GM of the Year
This is always so tough... honestly... I love you all... I use a different criteria for this. It's not necessarily what you did with your team, but how you operated, were you around, did you answer your PM's, did you look out for the best interests of the league... etc etc...

    1. Schisno. I know right? wtf am I thinking here? I just think he does a great job, his level of participation... and I'm voting for a Pats fan.. for the love of god! He turned the Jets into something respectable.
    2. Boik14. Now I know I'm losing it. Getting all sentimental and ****. But seriously, Boik does more for this site, including this subforum than we'll ever know. How he has the time? he must pay those Dominican "girls" he "met" and "brought" to the United States to help him keep his mod hand strong. He was always the rock that kept this thing from spiralling out of control. And there were times... believe me. No offense to GIK and Mach, who also did a great job too.
    3. Bdogtitan11. It's tough because he's a co gm... and I know his partner ehem... partner... registered domestic partner.. ehem... does a great job too.

so many more that I could acknowledge but won't because everyone will think I'm pandering for votes. lol...

    Team on the Rise
Jacksonville Jaguars - how can it not be? They were a bad team last year. Now look at them. They didn't make it an all star team, but when you're as bad as the Jags and then all of a sudden you have some playoff potential, the needle is pointing up.

    Team Built for Now
Houston Texans - you'd better be built for now if you acquired Peyton Manning, and the Texans are. Now, they aren't perfect. Some trades I didn't agree with etc etc... and you have two rookies starting on Peyton Manning's blindside, and the running backs aren't really household names. But the wide receivers are studs and the front seven is loaded for bear.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Brian Urlacher, LB - $1.0M - Carolina Panthers... wasn't really sure who to vote for here since none of my nominations made it to the final cut. Guess I'll give it to Urlacher although I almost said Idonije.

    Draft Steal of the Year
Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina - Green Bay Packers (GML, 1.026 - NFL, 1.007) - there's a reason he's a steal in my opinion and that's because at the time of the GML draft, of the five players nominated, he was the highest rated in all the draft publications. He was also the highest rated and highest taken in the real draft. So that's why I'm voting for Cooper even though his draft difference is relatively low compared to the others. Cooper is a stud.

    Trade of the Year
Tampa Bay Buccaneers & Philadelphia Eagles
Josh Freeman, Gerald McCoy, Mike Williams, Eric Wright, and 4.125 for Mike Vick, DeSean Jackson, DeMeco Ryans, Mike Patterson, and 3.069

I'm going against who I nominated here... going for the bigger package... the bigger the bust, the better the boost (a high five to whomever can tell me what movie that is from without looking it up on google). I've never been one to put together a big trade like this. It just gets too complex (except for at Mach's site last year ehem). But a lot of moving parts in this one. To think, I almost got Gerald McCoy via trade before this went down IIRC

    Best in Trades
St. Louis Rams - yeah, I'm stroking my own schlong on this one. It's the only category that I'll vote for myself. And I am a bit disappointed I didn't get nominated for my O line... but I digress... allow me to look at why I think I'm the best in trades this year by going thru each team's trades because it's what I do, it's why I am, it's how I feel. (update... I'm half way through... really bitten off more than I can swallow....)

Best in Free Agency (DOES NOT INCLUDE STREET FREE AGENTS)
Pittsburgh Steelers (Notable Signings: Jake Long, Louis Delmas, Paul Kruger, Derek Cox) First... I'm not voting for the Colts because they had one of the most cap room surpluses in the league this year and I feel they could have done more with it. Other than Byrd, I'm not a big fan of their notable signings (I guess I'm not looking at the other signings because I'm too lazy). I'd vote for the Jets, but that is hard for me to do because they are the Jets. I mean Schisno is a magician in what he does in free agency and getting people off their game. And then the Seahawks... Just can't do it because they went crazy for Mike Wallace. And Boik has won this before, so no need to inflate his ego any more than it already has been. So that leads me to the Steelers. Four great notable signings. Love all four players. Although Long and Delmas are gonna have to stay healthy.

    Best in Draft
tough call here... Miami or Tennessee? Even though I loved my draft, I'm going to take the high road this time... I'm not going to vote for myself. Sorry to disappoint. I'm going with the Titans. But it's a real close call. I just think they got more with less than what Miami had. Dolphins had six picks in the first 96. Titans had six picks in the first 107. I guess I just like the Titans six more and think they will be better players in the NFL. Time will tell.

    Feud of the Year
I forgot about our draft guru thread... Jason La Canglazer will be back!! I guess I'll go with Van and VO. I mean really... How can you not? There was a thread created to monitor Van's free agent bids!! LOL!!

    Most Improved GM
Sean - going to go for my little man Sean here. He's come a long way from a few years ago. I mean there were times when I could always count on Sean for a quick trade, dumping salary instead of cutting a player and netting a mid round pick. Not anymore.

    Rookie GM of the Year
oh geez... this is a tough one. You guys were all great. I'm going to go with Van because of his level of commitment to the league and the hours he was on (late at night, while working heheh). But again, you guys were all great and I hope all come back next year. It was great having fans come over from other teams because I just get sick of raping the same GM's over and over in trade negotiatoins :shifty: Actually, some GM's don't deal with me anymore because of it. woe is me.

    Best Offense
Cincinnati Bengals - going with the Bengals because they are the only team listed that I nominated. And I'm pretty sure I liked their offense. :wink2:

    Best Defense
hmmm Houston or Philly? Tough one. Really really tough. I'm sticking with the Texans. Philly's secondary is absurd. But it all starts up front. If you can't get to the qb, you can have the best secondary in the league and it won't matter. Not saying Philly's pass rush is bad either. I just base this more on the front sevens than I do the boys in the back (that sounded odd).

    Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE)
Cincinnati Bengals (RB - Ray Rice, WR - Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Stedman Bailey, TE - Jermaine Gresham, Martellus Bennett)
It's really the combination of Rice, Marshall and Thomas. That is just re god damn diculous.

    Best Offensive Line
Green Bay Packers (OT - Joe Thomas, Bryan Bulaga, OG - Josh Sitton, Jonathan Cooper, C - Brad Meester)
You start out with Joe Thomas as your left tackle, and you're going to be pretty high on the list. The guards are ridiculous. And Meester and Bulaga complete the group. But is it better than mine? :shifty: Not even nominated for Okung/Dahl/Wells/Yanda/Andre Smith. I'm going to go kick Jason La Canglazer in the groin.

    Best Front Seven
I really don't know how Miami is nominated. Burnett and Dansby? We cut those scrubs. Why are Dolfans clamoring for those two has beens? Anyway  Wait, how is Houston not nominated? I'm going to stay with one of the teams that I nominated and say it's the Bucs. I just think they have the best overall seven players listed. It's tough though. I like the 49ers... like Seattle too. nominated the Skins...

    Best Secondary
Philadelphia Eagles (CB - Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Sheldon Brown, FS - Kenny Phillips, SS - Kam Chancellor)
I like Minnesota's secondary as well. Sorry Boik. But Champ Bailey is 46 years old. Going with the Eagles. Revis and Cromartie back together again... holding hands. :shifty:

Normally, I wouldnt vote for myself but since there is an absurd amount of people doing so, I may as well. Since some people are making this a popularity contest....And Id love to see some of your offenses go against my defense. These guys would crush your teams soul.

    GM of the Year
Jacksonville Jaguars - No one did more with less
Green Bay - Solid job all around
Philadelphia - Unloaded some seriously garbage contracts and got value back.

    Team on the Rise
    Tennessee Titans

    Team Built for Now
Houston Texans - Gotta be them. Peyton and Andre Johnson arent getting younger.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Brian Urlacher, LB - $1.0M - Carolina Panthers

    Draft Steal of the Year
DJ Hayden, CB, Houston - Miami Dolphins (GML, 3.085 - NFL, 1.012)

    Trade of the Year
    Houston Texans & Denver Broncos
Matt Schaub, Kareem Jackson, Owen Daniels, 4.124), and 7.219 for Peyton Manning, Jacob Tamme, and 3.095

Best in Trades - I dont know I wasnt nominated Paul but since I wasnt I will give it to the runner up...you.
St Louis Rams. Bent a lot of teams over and did a great job flipping assets for other assets he wanted more. He didnt really lose any trades, though he was lucky to break even with me.

Best in Free Agency (DOES NOT INCLUDE STREET FREE AGENTS)
Seattle Seahawks (Notable Signings: Mike Wallace, Matt Slauson, Shonn Greene, Aubrayo Franklin) - I always win this so why should this year be any different? The names aside from Wallace may not be sexy but the value is there with a starting Guard, a 1000 yard back and a starter for a playoff team (Greene and Moreno) and a good nose tackle for collectively around 5M. Its not about names, its about value. Wallace was a need I had money put aside for.
    Runners up: Colts, Steelers

Best in Draft - This was tough as Cincy, St Louis, Miami, and Tennessee among others deserve major respect. My real vote, Baltimore who typically runs game here didnt get to the final round which was some bull.
    Green Bay Packers
1.024 - Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
1.026 - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
1.032 - Matt Elam, SS, Florida
2.057 - Travis Kelce, TE, Cincinnati
3.092 - Robert Alford, CB, Southeastern Louisiana
4.109 - Nico Johnson, LB, Alabama
5.159 - Connor Vernon, WR, Duke
7.203 - Jordan Rodgers, QB, Vanderbilt

    Feud of the Year
    VanDolphan vs Vengeful Odin

    Most Improved GM
Sean in a runaway. Not because the other GM's did poorly but because they were good last year too. Sean took it seriously more so this year then in years past and did more then try and set league records for trades.

    Rookie GM of the Year
VanDolphan (Buffalo Bills) - This was tough. Die Nasty, Ophinerated, and WUIF did well and as a whole it was the best rookie class since Ive been in the league.

    Best Offense
Seattle Seahawks - 5 deep at RB, 6 deep at WR and 4 deep at TE. Tell me again who you got defending all my weapons.

Best Defense - You guys keep nominating so stop hatin.
    Seattle Seahawks

Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE) - SF and Jax deserve respect as well. ATL didnt even pay attention half the time; I dont vote for teams that dont stay active. And the TE issue there...yikes.
Cincinnati Bengals (RB - Ray Rice, WR - Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Stedman Bailey, TE - Jermaine Gresham, Martellus Bennett) - Some serious talent here, though Im not in love with their TE options and I think Rice is on the decline.

Best Offensive Line - Other teams did well; this was a runaway though. Rams were close but didnt get nominated.
Green Bay Packers (OT - Joe Thomas, Bryan Bulaga, OG - Josh Sitton, Jonathan Cooper, C - Brad Meester)

    Best Front Seven
Seattle Seahawks (DE - Justin Smith, Derrick Morgan, NT - Terrence Cody, OLB - Bruce Irvin, Akeem Ayers, ILB - Bobby Wagner, Manti Te'o) - I probably shouldnt have a front 7 listed here since I only use a front 6 but even my bench guys are more talented then many of your starters. :p

    Best Secondary
Seattle Seahawks (CB - Richard Sherman, Champ Bailey, Brandon Boykin, FS - Earl Thomas, SS - Kerry Rhodes) - Champ Bailey is covering your wr2. Need I say more? He was a top 10 CB covering wr1's according to PFF. I dont care if hes 106 he can still ball. Sherman and Thomas are elites at their positions.

First of all let me start with my bitter comment of the year. I am really shocked at the amount of attention my team didnt get this yr. I REALLY genuinly felt I did my best job this yr out of all the yrs I have done this. Especially FA. How anyone can say I didnt do enough with what I had is beyond me. I signed 27 free agents. And out of those 13 are starters! Thats a big amount and all are improvements IMO.

    GM of the Year

    1. UCFinfan86, Cincinnati
--Only my second year in the GML, but I learned pretty quickly that UCFinfan86 is arguably the most consistent, heady GM we have in the league and he proved it this year. Stating the obvious, he took over a solid Bengals team and brought them to the next level. The offense is much more diverse, the front seven is as good as any. Draft, trades, FA, he did everything right this year.

    2. Boik14, Seattle
--Basically the same first sentence as above. Boik14 wins his trades, has a vision and sticks to it. He took a very good team and made it great, brilliantly working with the cap flexibility he had and making the most of the assets he traded. Super close to getting a 1[SUP]st[/SUP]-place nod. I’m not as big a fan as the 3-3-5 fit as others, but credit for taking a good stab at it. No weaknesses across the board, well done.

    3. GIK, Miami
--Not a Phins fan, but I know taking over the Dolphins on this MB is no easy task. Again, I value consistency and I think GIK did a nice job putting his team together from top to bottom. He didn’t blow things up, but made upgrades where he saw fit. The draft was spot on other than an unlucky Floyd fall.
    HM: Rams, Packers

    Team on the Rise
St. Louis Rams – Moved bad pieces, developed a strong nucleus. Rams would be very happy with this team going forward.

    Team Built for Now
Houston Texans – The move to get Peyton Manning – a great trade btw – indicates that the Texans are just a piece away from going from playoff team to SB contender.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
    Erin Henderson, LB - $750K

    Draft Steal of the Year
Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina - Green Bay Packers (GML, 1.026 - NFL, 1.007) – instant starter in late first. Even though we didn’t need an OG that badly, we were going to take him at 27 if he dropped one more spot.

    Trade of the Year
    Houston Texans and Denver Broncos

    Best in Trades
St. Louis Rams – Nicely done overall. How about Cousins for a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP]?

Best in Free Agency (DOES NOT INCLUDE STREET FREE AGENTS)
Indianapolis Colts (Notable Signings: Andy Levitre, Tracy Porter, Ramses Barden, Danny Woodhead)
--Sneaky good job by the Colts in FA. I am disappointed Jags weren’t nominated here. We got two players with 20 combined sacks in 2012, an elite RT, a 1,000-yard WR, and more. Off my soap box.

    Best in Draft
Green Bay Packers – This might have been the toughest to pick, lots of good drafts. But four instant starters for a Super Bowl contending team? Damn…

    Feud of the Year
VanDolphan vs Vengeful Odin – “Prepare your anus!”

    Most Improved GM
PSG – I thought a bunch of guys continued to trend upward, including Sean, but PSG’s version of the Packers deserves some credit. He had a vision and carried it out.

    Rookie GM of the Year
VanDolphan (Buffalo Bills) – This rookie class compares to the 1983 draft class. Titans and 49ers were awesome, but credit to Van for taking over a terrible team, making said team relevant and being active from the get go. Plus, I have to give props to the new guy who isn’t afraid to come in and ruffle some feathers.

    Best Offense
Cincinnati Bengals – Dalton is far from a weakness, but any shortcoming he has have the potential to be hidden with this group he has around them. Diversification of weapons with some star power.

    Best Defense
Miami Dolphins – No holes anywhere, very experienced group that should play well together.

    Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE)
San Francisco 49ers (RB - Maurice Jones-Drew, WR - Greg Jennings, Eric Decker, Randall Cobb, TE - Vernon Davis). Jags were happy with their depth, but this is cream of the crop in terms of depth, balance and explosiveness.

    Best Offensive Line
Green Bay Packers (OT - Joe Thomas, Bryan Bulaga, OG - Josh Sitton, Jonathan Cooper, C - Brad Meester) – Meester is only weakness here and even then, he’s capable of one more good year. Turned a weakness into a strength.

    Best Front Seven
Miami Dolphins (DE - Cameron Wake, Trent Cole, DT - Randy Starks, Sharrif Floyd, OLB - Kevin Burnett, Koa Misi, MLB - Karlos Dansby) – Seahwaks have more raw talent, but I cringe of thought of Morgan playing a 5 technique and Te’o playing in coverage. Again, no weaknesses for the Dolphins.

    Best Secondary
Seattle Seahawks (CB - Richard Sherman, Champ Bailey, Brandon Boykin, FS - Earl Thomas, SS - Kerry Rhodes) - Not even close. This group is fantastic. No holes, all dynamic, proven players.

Jaguars- Really liked what they did overall. No team improved as much as this one did IMO.

Dolphins- Made really solid moves at key needs. Did well in every facet of the offseason.

Jaguars- This team was horrible last year and it could be argued they are built to win now, but they are also built to sustain that success.

    Team built for Now
Texans- I may be biased, but I don't see another team with more talent across the board than the Texans. Manning with the best WR tandem he's had since Harrison and Wayne were in their primes, Watt and Miller getting after the QB, Joseph shutting down half the field all make this the team to beat right now IMO.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Sione Pouha- I won't go with myself on two consecutive categories. Getting a player as good as Pouha for less than $1M is pretty impressive.

    Draft Steal of the Year
Jonathan Cooper- This was incredibly tough for me. It had little to do with where these guys were actually drafted and more to do with whether I felt they were great value where they were taken. Hayden was fantastic value in the 3rd round, but Cooper was probably one of the top 3-5 players in this draft and he was taken near the end of the 1st.

    Trade of the Year
Tom Brady for Matt Ryan and 2.062- All good candidates. Two top 10 QBs being swapped is a pretty big deal though.

    Best in Trades
Rams- Liked many of their trades

    Best in Draft
Miami- Loved this draft. Good player after good player all with pretty good value. I don't care where Floyd went in the actual draft. He was worth the 6th pick IMO. Love Hunter, love Taylor, love Thomas, love Hayden, love Alonso. Great draft.

    Feud of the year
I guess I just didn't pay attention to the feuds. I honestly have no clue.

    Most improved GM
I have no idea. I nominated the Jags in the nominations thread, but I honestly couldn't tell you how good of a GM he or anyone else was last year. I can barely remember what my team looked like last year. So I'll abstain from this one.

    Rookie GM of the Year
Tampa- All good choices, but I liked what he did.

    Best Offense
Seattle- Not much to say here. They are stacked.

    Best Defense
Houston- Again, not much to say other than this is a stacked D with arguably the best 2 defensive players in the NFL and lots of supporting talent.

    Best Offensive Weapons
Bengals- Loaded with talent at each of the "weapon" positions

    Best Offensive Line
    Packers- Five studs.

    Best Front Seven
Dolphins- This one was tough because they all had weaknesses (*cough, the Texans didn't, *cough). The front 4 here is scary though and the LBs are very solid.

    Best Secondary
Seattle- This was maybe the most difficult decision. I have typed and deleted my answer to this one a few times now, but Seattle barely edges out Philly simply because Revis is coming off of a serious injury. Really, really tough call though. I honestly think both should win this category.

    GM of the Year
    1. St Louis Rams
    - Had one of the best drafts this year and has his positions filled with the right players for his scheme, has both the ability to win now with potential to be a challenger for the Superbowl in the next few seasons.
    2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    - For a rookie GM made some solid moves building a very good defense. Brought in Matt Flynn who might finally get to start. In and out of the league he was a true gentlemen and gamer.
    3. Arizona Cardinals
    - Always getting BK'd in the draft and tends to deal with some tough obstacles, has fun and that's what counts.

    Team on the Rise
    Jacksonville Jaguars
    - Can be a playoff team, but I don't know if the Jags are a true Superbowl contender as they have up and coming pieces mixed with pro bowl talent who have questions. Matt Ryan has one playoff win, I'm just saying. The window is open for a few years but his receiving unit was more impressive in Atlanta.

    Team Built for Now
    Houston Texans
    - The team with one of the smallest windows due to the age of Manning and Johnson, this Texans team fits the description of win now. If both were to retire at the end of this upcoming season, they would have to worry about growing an offense in the new few seasons, or they could reload but that would cost them key pieces in their defense. Unfortunately we know Manning's history in the playoffs as well.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Cary Williams, CB - $2.0M - Houston Texans
    - You'd have to compare the deals given out to other CBs this offseason and see this was one of the more affordable deals with the averaging being 5 million and over, if you're getting one of the notable playoff CBs this past year for less than half what other CBs are getting, that's a steal. As great as Urlacher has been in his career, he is still unsigned for real.

    Draft Steal of the Year
DJ Hayden, CB, Houston - Miami Dolphins (GML, 3.085 - NFL, 1.012)
    - In terms of immediate impact for their team Hayden should step into a starting role for the Raiders, whereas someone like EJ Manuel could get the start in Buffalo week one, but at the same time QBs have an immediate sink or swim evaluation on them especially if you're the only QB taking in the first round. As big as coup Manuels GML vs NFL draft value is, he landed in Buffalo. Pugh might not start for a season or two, so that will be too long for this to be an immediate draft steal. Cooper and Long could do well, but if their lines are awful they could not get the recognition they deserve.

    Trade of the Year

    Jacksonville Jaguars & Atlanta Falcons
Tom Brady for Matt Ryan and 2.062
    - Less pieces being moved around by the teams involved, but has a seismic shift for both teams. Atlanta becomes a team with a window just as small as the Texans and the Jaguars have more time to get to the promise land. Big moves aren't made by completing changing over teams, it's by making the key moves at an integral position for your teams success.

    Best in Trades
    Jacksonville Jaguars
    - Didn't try to have the most trades in the league, and won more than they lost. Brought in big names by winning those trades by a larger margin.

Best in Free Agency (DOES NOT INCLUDE STREET FREE AGENTS)
Pittsburgh Steelers (Notable Signings: Jake Long, Louis Delmas, Paul Kruger, Derek Cox)
    - Didn't really overpay for his FA signings because their were some ridiculous contracts handed out and managed to pick up some hot names on the list as well. Solid group of veterans to bring in.

    Best in Draft
    Tennessee Titans
1.010 - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
2.041 - Jonathan Cyprien, FS, FIU
2.064 - Giovanni Bernard, RB, North Carolina
3.072 - Corey Lemonier, DE, Auburn
4.105 - EJ Manuel, QB, Florida State
    4.107 - Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut
5.130 - Cornelius Washington, DE, Georgia
7.202 - Vince Williams, LB, Florida State
7.208 - Michael Mauti, LB, Penn State

    - It was a toss up between the Dolphins and the Titans. Dolphins lose it based on the Limas Sweed variable.

    Feud of the Year
    Machiavelli vs Trade Negotiations
    - It led to the cutting of players that could have probably been traded for earlier on. The antithesis of playing the GML. Also I was too involved in the other feuds to cast a vote for those.

    Most Improved GM
    PSG
    - still an underappreciated veteran.

    Rookie GM of the Year
    Die Nasty (Tennessee Titans)
    - All of our rookie GMs need to given a hand for playing.

    Best Offense
    Jacksonville Jaguars
    - The only thing that separates these cats from the Orange and Black ones are the QBs, Matt Ryan over Andy Dalton thanks.

    Best Defense
    Miami Dolphins

    Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE)
Cincinnati Bengals (RB - Ray Rice, WR - Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Stedman Bailey, TE - Jermaine Gresham, Martellus Bennett)
    - Any QB would be happy choosing these toys.

    Best Offensive Line
Green Bay Packers (OT - Joe Thomas, Bryan Bulaga, OG - Josh Sitton, Jonathan Cooper, C - Brad Meester)
    - Solid all the way through, and not really forcing square pegs into round holes, like tackles into guard positions.

    Best Front Seven
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DE - Adrian Clayborn, Michael Bennet, DT - Kevin Williams, Mike Patterson, OLB - Lavonte David, Jarvis Jones, MLB - DeMeco Ryans)
    - Good mix of veteran, up and comers and impact rookies. This unit can really grow into something.

    Best Secondary
Minnesota Vikings (CB - Antoine Winfield, Desmond Trufant, Chris Cook, FS - Jairus Byrd, SS - Harrison Smith)
    - Best mix of starting CBs and Safeties.

    GM of the Year:
    1. Indianapolis Colts: I don't get how Big E is always overlooked year after year. He's got the best young QB in the NFL. All he went out and did was improve the RB spot (signing both DeAngelo Williams and Cedric Benson, while adding Danny Woodhead), as well as trading for Michael Crabtree. I like how the offense is young, but he's stocked the team defensively with tons of veterans. Year after year E is overlooked and I don't understand why. This is a solid team from top to bottom.
    2. Pittsburgh Steelers: I really liked what the Steelers did in both Free Agency and the Draft, getting younger and better. They inherited a team with some very tough cap numbers but were able to make the best of it. Solid work.
    3. Miami Dolphins: It's always tough to take the hometown team, but Griddles and Pete were up to the challenge. They missed out on Wallace, but only because Boik was willing to drop massive amounts of money on him in Free Agency. Solid work all the way around.

Since things are locked up, I more want to acknowledge guys under the radar with spots 2 and 3. E and WUIF both made some great moves, and I wanted to give them some due for it. E always brings a unique view to things like Peyton last year, and WUIF as a rookie bought some neat insight that was very much appreciated.

    Team on the Rise
St. Louis Rams - Jacksonville has this locked up and I liked what Paul did here, deserves mention.

    Team Built for Now
Seattle Seahawks - Houston has this locked up and Boik gets a nod for a solid all around team.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
Sione Pouha, DT - $600K - Chicago Bears - I like my fatties.

    Draft Steal of the Year
DJ Hayden - easy with that value

    Trade of the Year
Jacksonville Jaguars & Atlanta Falcons - has to be the big one

    Best in Trades
Jacksonville Jaguars - I've solely passed them up so far because they had a stranglehold on the other categories anyway, and I'd like to take this spot to really give proper credit to that burgeoning monster. Shoulda let you trade up for Jesse though!

    Best in Free Agency
Minnesota Vikings - VO and I are always after the same players, and Pittsburgh has this on lockdown.

    Best in Draft
Miami Dolphins - the players, the value, easy pick.

    Feud of the Year
The Kiper Brothers vs Mel McShay & Jason La Canglazer - this amused me so much because of how uniquely random it was, and since VanDolphan vs his small peen isn't an option, this is it. Sean vs schisno also was a blast.

    Most Improved GM
Buckeye - I was torn between Sean and Buckeye but since Sean's pretty much got it anyway, it was easy to give Buckeye recognition. I'd give it to you both if possible. Glad you guys are starting to get more recognition.

    Rookie GM of the Year
Die Nasty - since I have to pick. This crop was amazing though. I especially love the way the Niners, Giants, and Bucs did things. You guys got stuck in a tough year and I eagerly look forward to what you guys do next year and beyond.

    Best Offense
    Cincinnati Bengals - seems consensus

    Best Defense
Houston Texans - sports really earned his mettle here, just top notch.

    Best Offensive Weapons (RB/WR/TE)
San Francisco 49ers - Cincy's got this on such lockdown that I'll give a nod to WUIF.

    Best Offensive Line
Green Bay Packers - deserves the recognition, excellent work.

    Best Front Seven
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - this one is tough between SF and TB, but I'll just barely give the nod to TB who deserves recognition for what he did, especially as a rook.

    Best Secondary
Philadelphia Eagles -while Seattle's D may get the edge, I feel Philly's DBs take the cake.
