They likely will, since they'll want to demonstrate rumored features like the Xbox interconnecting with cable receivers. Personally, I'm not too excited about this, but let's see what it does and what games it offers. At worst I can just buy a new GPU for my PC...
If this is really part of the system, pretty freakin cool... http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/1...ral-projector-is-the-xbox-720s-killer-feature
I tend to doubt that Microsoft would show off something like that if they intended to include it in the next Xbox. Makes no sense why they wouldn't just hold off a month.
I heard about this over a year ago. A gimmick IMO, but a neat one. I wouldn't pay a dime extra for it.
You won't be paying anything for it because it's not part of the Nextbox. Apparently, the Nextbox focuses on everything except gaming. There's a certain site that may or may not be connected, claiming that Sony has won the next generation by default, as Microsoft won't even show up to the fight.
Although I pretty much decided already I'd only get one of the next systems (at least early) and that I'm almost certain it'll be the ps4, this is still disappointing to hear.
In the sense that competition improves quality, yes, absolutely. But I don't mind a gaming market without Microsoft. Look at how they killed PC gaming for years.
The Verge: Leaked Microsoft memo says Nextbox won't require always on connectivity Therefore, confirmed features: Blu-Ray drive TV capabilities Offline mode
My thoughts. First: The people who gave me crap because I said this generation would be about controlling the living room? You owe me beers. All of you. Multiple beers. Second: Microsoft seems to be trying to bring PC concepts and services to the console. This might be their true post PC device. Third: It looks like the analysis I saw that Microsoft was ceding gaming to Sony was true. Fourth: So far I am not interested at all in this device.
The "fee" for using a game with a second account is a possible deal breaker. I have no sympathy for developers who charge $60 for a game (plus the extra $ for download content) and then complain about not getting a cut of used game sales. I've never sent money to Ford, Chevrolet or Toyota after selling off my older cars, why should games be an exception? Or how about selling off "classic" Dolphin gear at your yard sale and sending a portion of the money to the NFL? Sounds good? Desides is correct in that MS is not that interested in games this generation, the focus is on a device for everyone. I will give the PS4 a long look now, and may very well be gaming with Sony for the first time since the original PSX. (It went PSX, Dreamcast, Xbox and Xbox 360). BTW, "Xbox One" is a really boring name. It strikes me as inaccurate, since this is their third console too. Of course, they are probably thinking "one" sounds like "won".
I guess I am looking at it from a different view. One, if you look at the specs...How can you say they are ceding gaming to Sony? I want an entertainment console. One means....just what it says...from one appliance, you will be able to pretty much run your living room. There it's alot more information that I need to know about before I can really pass judgment though. The fee for second use is one. So far though, as someone who has had an xbox.since the first version....I'm looking forward to release date. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
The "fee" is stupid as hell. I'd be shocked if that wasnt removed via patch shortly before the system is released.
Doubtful. It'll be the way it is now: if you install the game on your console, you still have to have the disc to play it.
The fact that Microsoft is touting the new Xbox as an all in one enyertainment device proves to me that the videogame industry is scared ****tless of Tablets/Cellphones.
I wouldn't say they are scared....I think they just realize with all the new technologies out there....there will be multiple ways to game. I think they just realize tablets and cellphones are all now part of the gaming experience.
My contribution to the Xbox gaming community is that I buy Madden every 3 years and play mostly offline. MS can therefore take this latest console and shove right up their arse.
Or skipping all of the constant talk that the games were being held back for E3. 15 exclusives coming. 8 of them original non-sequels. Nice to see exclusives making a comeback. Doesn't surprise me though. This section of the boards has always been Sony heavy. Like usual my choice will come down to the exclusive games.....since there is no real difference in hardware.
Will stick to PC gaming until they sort out a winner. The only reason I'll (maybe) buy either one of these consoles will be to play multiplayer games with friends.
Exclusives never went away. Halo, Forza, Uncharted, God of War, etc. Madden for 360 is more popular here than Madden for PS3. I wouldn't say the gaming forum is Sony-heavy at all. It looks fairly balanced to me. If anything, the board has a console bias. Most likely not true. There is a difference in hardware; the PS4 has faster memory and likely a better GPU (as Microsoft is being somewhat cagey about it). This means games that constantly swap textures (say, GTA) in theory will be better on the PS4.
I agreed with you, but just me speaking it seems to be both of their priorities and I could care less about it..... I want the thing to do what it is supposed to do.....I want amazing video games, graphics and sounds basically everything that comes with it solely in relationship with the companies that make the games......I don't care about gaming with anybody in this country, I dont care about connectivity and streaming to a service where you cant get HD quality....I want to watch movies in HD......not streaming drags....dont need to go online with my TV being the monitor, I have an iPad, desktop and a laptop.... It just seems they are getting away from gaming and I don't like it.....it must be a younger generational thing....
