Final update 5:05pm 4/25 Miami trades up to 3 with Oakland 1.12)Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame 2.42)Darius Slay, CB, Miss St 2.54)Terron Armstead, OT, Pines-Bluff 3.77)Ryan Swope, WR, A&M 4.111)Alvin Bailey, OG, Arkansas 4.113)Quanterus Smith, DE, Western Kentucky 5.166)Stephan Taylor, RB, Stanford 7.217)Chris Jones, DT, Bowling Green 7.224)Luke Marquardt, OT, Azusa Pacific 7.250)Brandon McMannus, K, Temple
1.12 TE - Tyler Eifert 2.42 DE - Damontre Moore 2.54 OL - Justin Pugh 3.77 DT - Akeem Spence 3.82 S - Shamarko Thomas 4.111 CB - BW Webb 5.146 WR - Cobi Hamilton 5.166* CB - Brandon McGee 7.217 RB - Latavius Murray 7.224 TE - Joseph Fauria 7.250* QB - Jordan Rodgers
As tempting as it is, I'm not predicting trades. Too many variables. So... 1.12 TE Tyler Eifert - Just do it. 2.42 CB DJ Hayden - He might last this long... maybe... 2.54 SS Jonathan Cyprien - He and Jones? Look out! 3.77 ILB Kiko Alonso - Motor. Motor. Motor. 3.82 DE Malliciah Goodman - Good rush skills. 4.110 WR Kenny Stills - Pretty complete. Underrated, IMO. 5.146 OT Brennan Williams - One can hope he falls here... right? 5.166 C/G JC Tretter - Athletic. Smart. 7.217 DE Stansly Maponga - Moves pretty well. DE? OLB? 7.224 K Caleb Sturgis - Need the competition. 7.250 C/G Matt Stankiewitch - By far the best last name in the draft. Bank on 'The Stank.'
You give yourself a better chance without doing trades. I'm going to be revising mine before the deadline.
Eifert is the sexy pick right now. I don't think Miami will pick him at #12. I think if they get him, they will trade up from #42. However, he just HAS to be on their radar. There are only a few players on the board that would significantly improve the Phins offense. Eifert is one of those, IMO. Johnson, Cooper, Austin and Bailey are others. Of course, there's defense. The two players I think Ireland might be targeting in the first are Milliner and Richardson. There's just so many variables this year for Miami with the picks they have and considering their activity in free agency. It's hard to predict them. Next Thursday is going to be exciting. I can't wait.
