Vikings Get Busy as Free Agency Looms Jared Allen, Big Game Hunter (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are apparantly big fans of Jared Allen, giving the mercurial defensive end a big pay raise (rumored to be north of 20 million a season) that they hope will keep him in the purple and gold for years to come. Allen had somewhat of a down year last year, but is still one of the most disruptive defensive ends in the National Football League. Brian Robison, Allen's bookend at defensive end, was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a third round pick. While Robison has been a high-energy player throughout his tenure in Minnesota, the Vikings feel that they can get the same level of production from reclaimed first round pick Everson Griffen. With Allen back in the fold, the Vikings now have a formidable defensive line with a mix of veterans (Allen, Kevin Williams) and youth (Gerald McCoy, Griffen). Capping the busy day were a pair of moves designed to further solidify the offensive side of the ball, something that is sure to make returning NFL MVP Adrian Peterson very happy. Minnesota sent a veritable gaggle of draft picks to the Denver Broncos for ascending guard Zane Beadles, fresh off a Pro Bowl birth last season. Beadles will pair with the recently acquired Kevin Zeitler and returning All Pro John Sullivan to form one of the most imposing interior offensive lines in the NFL. Beadles is expected to man the RG spot while Zeitler is tentatively penciled in at LG. Rounding out yesterday's moves came the announcement that right tackle Phil Loadholt had been designated for transition, a move that was most likely about continuity than anything else. Loadholt, aside from having one of the best football names ever, has been a fixture of the running game during his Vikings career. With Loadholt returning, as well as the the infusion of Beadles and Zeitler at guard, the Vikings have to feel very comfortable about their offensive line heading into the 2013 season.
