Congrats guys!! Now, I read some place that you need to go two full years to be able to say your free from smoking. Now, I don't know where I read it or what the reasoning is behind it, but why not shoot for it? LOL! I did. This past November 3rd I made it to my 3rd year. I find it interesting that just when you think your completely free from the habit, you later end up feeling even more free. Like theres phases...the 3 day point, the 3 month point, the first year and the years after. I recently noticed that I'm now to the point that I cant stand the smoke or the lingering smell from a smoker. A year ago I was fine with it. Kinda sucks to have a new thing to complain about, but it makes me feel certain that I'm definitely past even the little curiosity's of what one would be like after so long. Anyways, keep doing what your doing!
Dealing with me in the POFO for a year minus smokes? I'm impressed. Been smoke free since September, even when I tried to cheat and have one when out last wek in a bar backfired, got so sick from it. A good sign I got it beat.
If he wants to quit but has trouble doing so tell him to try E-Cigs, I tried patches, gum, pills, you name it, thought I never quit, but E-Cigs worked, it took awhile but soon found I could not stand the taste of smoking and it was because of them.
Thats how I did it. I tried the patches, the pills the gums even the herbal cessation programs, but never had any luck. I guess different things work better for different people, but I always try to press the cold turkey method. It sucks the first month or two, but the sucky part helps make you not want to go through it again. With the patches or gums and such, it takes away the sucky part which takes away that motivation to stay quit, plus most of those things ween you off of nicotine and most take 3 months before you even start to go completely free from nicotine. Its like, would you rather go through hell for maybe a week or two then suffer some cravings for around a month or so afterwards and be over it? Or constantly suffer cravings for a half a year? I wasted a modest low ball guess of around a grand on smoking cessation products before I realized cold turkey was the way to go. I can not stress enough to people quitting that cold turkey is the only way to go!
There's a lot of truth to what you're saying. I will say, for me, it helped that my wife was quitting at the same time. We had each other to lean on when weakness crept up.
Yeah man,,,,I got 2.5 in, and I love it.....well done Sick and Dangle..... soooooooo Fin, any chance you quit be liberal?? too soon?
Nice. I'll never understand why people even enjoy cigarettes (I smoked for like 2 months when I was 16). Aside from they go really well w coffee, I got nothing.
I don't know seems to be when most people smoke is when they are drinking. I've always enjoyed it myself as well. That and smoking with a hangover for some weird reason haha.
I started when I was 14, so it was about 24 years at 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day. I started because it gave me a buzz. By the time I didn't get a buzz anymore, I was hooked. For me, (and I suspect a lot of other people) it became intertwined with everything I did. After eating, driving, conversation, etc all become key smoking moments.
Yeah. I had never tried weed until i was well in my 20's. Even then I've probably smoked it less than a dozen times and not since New Years Eve 2001. Don't drink either.
congrats man, I've never smoked cigs really. I was coming off a super bad tab trip once and my friends made me take a drag to try and calm the f**k down, obviously it didn't do much for me. Everyone in my family have been religious smokers, its always been motivation for me to not smoke. But I can definitely say I understand quite a bit how hard it is to quit. Props.
