Might be the opposite. Dol-Fans figure we'll lose and don't want to be talked trash to in their own stadium.

Holy ****... still if we win this weekend and can put up some more it should fix itself but if we lose... at some point you have to wonder if Ross won't just give Irelands to the fans as an offering.

Wow, this is with the Jets fans and Tim Kardashian coming. Granted there will probably be far less Tebow/Gator fans than "Gator Day" last year.

The game on Sunday at least didn't look toobad with 58,000...but less than 50,000 would be awful. Cincinnati averaged 49,000 last year. Miami might go lower if they don't have some winning streak, and even that might not help this season.

They at least beat out the openers for St. Louis and Tampa Bay this season, but those teams may end up being more consistent with attendance. Yes, Jacksonville gets better attendance now than a bunch of teams including Miami. Tickets are probably dirt cheap in Jax, but still.

The only bright side is this is a recent thing...two years ago and every year prior Miami was at least top 15 in attendance, so a trip to the playoffs and some actual winning seasons will bring it right back up. But who knows how long we'll have to wait for that.

I never understood the obsession with attendance numbers? Unless you're in the marketing/sales department, why care? Especially if it isn't going to be blacked out?

Wow. I am sure I can say for myself, and a lot of the out of town fans on this board, that if a Dolfan would have a chance to attend a Dolphins-Jets game at home, no matter how bad the team might be, they wouldn't think twice about the opportunity. Maybe that's just me though, and the fact that I am on the opposite side of the country from sunny Florida.

Because the fan should keep going when the product sucks? I know we like to throw around that good fans should always go even if they suck it doesn't work that way everywhere and esp. not here. There's too much out there competing for our limited dollars.

I think Steven Ross needs to do an Authur Blank (ATL Owner), sell 10k seats for $10 each. He sold it as a season ticket deal. He sold out. And this was at a time that they were really bad.

In addition to the obvious, which is the fan base does not have faith in this team at all yet so their is little if any excitement to attend a game....

I think it's also the above.

I have a few friends with kids that are season ticket holders that refuse to take their kids to this very game because of the extreme Arsehole factor brought by this fan base.

You do have to go to this game with a completely different mindset as a Phins fan. You know there are going to be stressors not present at anywhere near the same levels with any other game you'll attend all year.

After being a season ticket holder for over 30 years, I stopped going to games two years ago because of my frustration with the direction of this team. I went to my first game in over two years last week when I was invited to the game by one of my good friends. I so enjoyed the game that I decided to attend this weeks game against the Jets. I still have my doubts concerning Ireland, but I'm hoping the Dolphins end the season with a better record than I anticipate they will. I have come around in my thinking on both Tannehill and Philbin.

Tannehill looks far better as an NFL than I thought he would, especially this early in his career. I just hope that he will be able to stand up to the constant pressure he is going to get from the Jets this weekend.

I have really been impressed with the job Philbin and the coaches have done with their halftime adjustments. After seeing the Dolphins completely fall apart in the second half of so many games under Sparano, it has been a joy to watch the Dolphins actually outplay the Raiders and Texans in the second half of the games they played.

I figure that the players and coaches deserve the support, and they are the reason I will be attending the game this weekend.

I just hope that more local fans won't wait to see if the blackout is lifted before deciding if they want to attend the game or not. As negative as I have been in regards to Ross and Ireland, I still want this team to win and I would like nothing better than to see a lot more fans in the stadium this week. I figure there will be plenty of time to continue our complaints about Ireland and Ross if this team ends up below 500 once again. For now though, the hated Jets are coming to town and I am plan to be at the stadium rooting on the Dolphins. If you haven't got anything better to do this Sunday, come join me and the other 48,000 plus who will be there.

Too many damn seats to begin with.

If we had 60-65K seating capacity, the place would sellout on its own pretty much all the time. And earlier.

If it's close to capacity, people will buy up the rest. When there's obscene amounts of seating available, people aren't motivated to purchase.

Perceived demand creates buzz and attracts customers.

It is still me. I have just decided to enjoy the season and hope for the best. I figure I will have plenty of time to go back to my, "get rid of Ireland", rants if the Dolphins end up winning only 5 or 6 games this season. I have said all along that I am a Dolphin fan and I want this team and coaching staff to have success. If they have success this season, I will certainly be willing to give Ireland a lot of the credit for that success.

I spent all the off season and the preseason expressing my displeasure with Ireland and Ross. Now the regular season is here and I want nothing more than for these two men to prove me wrong. For now, I just intend to be a fan and wait and see how the season plays out.

According to the local news tonight. The NFL has granted the Dolphins one additional day to sell the three thousand seats needed to lift the blackout. If these seats are not sold by tomorrow afternoon, the game most definitely will be blacked out this Sunday. Perhaps that is why there is an obsession with attendance numbers.
