I'm a "glass is half-full" kind of guy anyway, but I believe there is plenty to be excited about! For one, Tannehill is BY FAR the best looking QB we've had since Marino. The Defense looked good in the only real action of the preseason. Getting Hartline back is big, Bess is going to have a good year. The running game will good. Fasano is solid, Lane at FB, Clay... there is enough to work with. Use Bush and Miller motioning out wide too! I can't wait for the big upset next week, when we do to the Texans, what they did to us the first couple times we played them... GO DOLPHINS!
Its sound good to know that the glass is half full, so early in the day... LOL... I kind of get the feeling that this team will struggle early in the season and improve as the year goes along... Thankfully we have another year with an easier schedule, and it kind of reminds me of 2008 schedule... Since nobody really expected much from us and we had a Defense that played really well that year... I will all boil down to Turn OVers, if we can eliminate them like in 2008, we can surprise teams... EDITE--- Winning expectation(2008) even with Penny was at 6 games (5 1/2 over and under)...
I too think that the Dolphins are better than what some give them credit for. I'm not saying they are a playoff team, but I bet they are competitive. The points you made really can't be argued this early in the season. They are all positive things that this team can build off of!
i think I get how these fist bumps work now. Say something positive about the team, you'll get fist bumps. Say something negative, and you won't get any lol. Interesting. do you get like a prize once you reach a certain number of fist bumps or how does that work?
If someone sees something they consider to be a good, well-reasoned post then they get positive reinforcement for something someone may want to read. I can see how you would be confused.
Im starting to come around, but to be honest the VD trade still stings me a bit. I also remember last year when the media gave us no love and we had the worst predictions (5 wins) and I looked at our D thinking that we would come out and surprise a lot of ppl. Unfortunately it was with 7 straight losses. But as the game draws closer, starting to get more optimistic, we got to beat those texans, PHINS UP
What I'm pumped about is that we appear to have a clean slate here, where we have a promising rookie quarterback, a coach who is intelligent, hard-working, and understands the importance of creating a winning team culture, and a GM who is cooperating well with the head coach to obtain the talent he needs to accomplish that. If I can see evidence of the development of the QB and the team culture as the season progresses, I'll be satisfied with this season and even more pumped going into next year, when we have a bevy of draft picks and cap space to add pieces to the puzzle. This season is all about laying a foundation and creating positive momentum for the future IMO, and I'm pumped that the pieces appear to be in place for that. Now all we need to see is the evolution of it in reality on gamedays.
The bold is a lie. Seriously, you didn't attack the Dolphins, you attacked a poster who did nothing but start a thread about how excited he is. That's harmless and you had to come in and **** on him...why? Why the hell do you find it so necessary to tirelessly try to make people as miserable as you are? What pleasure does that give you? Can you just not make it through the day if someone else is happy? I get that you think other people's happiness should be squashed and that makes you cool...but it really just proves you're one chemical explosion away from being a weak *** Batman villain.
I think i know what you thought about the fist bumps. "say something negative about the team just for the sake of being negative and you will get the fist bumps". IT doesnt work like that, say something that make sense, interesting for the peopple here and you get fist pumps. The prize? You could be taken seriously.
I'm there with ya Hulk! I'm PUMPED for this season. I can't get enough of college ball and the CFL these days, but nothing compares to watching the Phins for some reason. I actually have 0 expectations for this season. Record doesn't matter in terms of my excitement. I watch and support the team through thick and thin, although sometimes I wonder why lol.
Tannehill is the reason to be pumped. We may lose, but if hes showing signs of greatness in the process, that's good enough for me this year.
I'm pumped too.. Can't wait for things to get going. Love the idea of Tannehill as our franchise QB...Hate the idea that he might not be...Love the thought of Pat Devlin getting a shot if Tannehill isn't the answer. Interested to see how Tannehill works with our receivers.
I won't as far as to say "I'm pumped" for the season. I'm always excited when it's football season though. What is better than waking up early on a Sunday morning and watching football all day? Fall is my favourite season. the weather and football make it the best. That said, I think we will be terrible....it does not mean I'm not looking forward to every week though. this is why "being pumped" does not make you a "homer" or whatever, it just means you love this team and this sport.
If I may analyze the troll for one second, I believe we have a case of "multi generational dolphin sclerosis" which by definition is the INability to differentiate different regimes and eras..The carryover of bitterness and anguish from one staff to the next just because they cannot compartmentalize their feelings.
I'm pumped that we have what looks to be a future at QB and excited to see what the staff can do with what looks like a lackluster team. I'm ready for some bad Sundays and hopefully we have some good ones. I just don't want to see 2007 again.
I can compartmentalize my feelings. My feeling is this franchise is making me mental. I still love them though....and I don't know why.
Surprisingly enough, I am, I think we FINALLY are going with the JJ template, young and athletic over "smart, tough, disciplined" I'm really looking forward to Marcus Thigpen trying to translate his game to the NFL and we finally have an OL that can be together for 5 yrs or more. Think DTrain and Miller are both studs in the making.
not looking forward for anything right now...thigpen could still be number 51-53 on the roster and will be gone in the next few hours, i hope matthews, jerry and samuda are somewhere between 46 and 50
If THILL shows signs of being the guy, does it matter what else happens from this draft class, would it already be considered a success?
nope, all wrong. you say something thoughtful and intelligent regardless if it is positive or negative you get a fist pump. say something douche and you get railed on. got it?
Well, my philosophy concerning football revolves around attacking at all times, thusly I want the best athletes doing every job that directly deals with handling the football. We've spent 4 yrs getting dragged by the pats simply b/c we tried to out think them, not out play them, if that means Thigpen then I'm fine with it. Also suspect Thigpen is Ireland's boy, and he wants to hit another HR with an ex CFLer.
Hey, Junior.. I lived through George Wilson and John Stofa. And I was then, and still am pumped for Miami Dolphins football - whenever it happens and under whatever conditions it happens. If you don't like it that some of us will support the team even if they don't do exactly what some others would wish... you would best be employed by finding someplace else to whine, moan, complain, and attack. If you want to be more than a nuisance on here, post something besides knee jerk reactions and repetitve imprecation. Some of us saw this disaster coming when Wayne hired Jimmy - and started then worrying and fretting. It has been unremitting ever since. through Wannstach, Cammie boy, and Nickie-No-I'm-not. But you know what - a fan watches no matter what, cheers the team no matter what, follows the team no matter what, and hopes no matter what.
To be a top organization that wins consistently you need to hit on more prospects in your drafts than one. That said, considering how long it's been since this organization has sniffed a special QB....... Yeah it would be a complete success even if he was the only success out of the group. As someone else posted earlier in this thread... Tannehill is the ONE thing I'm excited about this season. Hoping to see the kid grow, show some signs of special talent and look to the future.
I've been agreeing with you more these last few weeks than I have the previous few years. It’s a little scary.
Cool! Great to see some are definitely on the positive... Con - Good to see you! Haven't seen you around much, but then again, I have only been mostly trolling in the offseason... I'm ready for your comdeic weekly take articles!
I don't think it's possible to be any less excited about the coming season. We have a rookie 1st round QB who was never that great looking of a prospect to begin with that might be fun watching, but probably not considering the abysmal talent our clueless GM has left him with. I feel quite bad for Tannehill, he's in the absolute worst position a rookie QB could be in. After that, who cares. Nothing else is even remotely exciting about this team. At least with the Hurricanes, you know they're probably going to suck, but at least it will be with freshman and sophomores that weren't brought in by Shantard. So they'll at least be interesting to watch.
Sam did the comedy, I did the ridiculously long game breakdowns. I just don't have the time to do them anymore to be honest. Sorry. Good to see you too by the way.
I agree with you. Even if Tannehill is the Next Dan Marino, his supporting cast sucks. And I wouldnt go so far as to Say the Canes are gonna suck, they showed a lot of heart today coming back from 14 down. I was worried about replacing Lamar Miller, but Duke Johnson may be even better than Miller was. The D needs to tighten up, but they are young. They look promising. The Dolphins, not so much
I'm with ya Hulk. Gotta say so....don't expect too much. Realistic expectations always helps my recovery, that and medication. I have dreams....we once were a perennial playoff team. Anyone I tell that thinks I'm retarted or an old age pensioner...I'm sure it happened tho. It just gets misty nowadays.
I will be pumped when my glass is half full of Svedka or Jim Beam. Really, am semi-pumped for the first half of the season...the only teams I think are really that much better are Texans and Bengals, would be surprised if Miami beat one of them. Besides those two its Raiders, Jets, Cardinals, Rams. Don't think we're necessarily better than those teams (obviously), but certainly not much worse where we don't have a chance. Considering last season's awful start where playoff hopes were over before Halloween, and this seasons low expectations, 3-3 or 2-4 would be a "rousing success" going into bye.
