Here here... Good luck to all the folks out there that are affected as well as those who are Fins fans...
Yeah, suddenly a couple days of no power doesn't seem quite so bad compared to people losing their homes.
Well done Fin D. Ill have echo your sentiments...thoughts and prayers for those members who may themselves or have friends and family in harms way. Hope everything works out for the best.
Colorado Springs is a stunning and beautiful area.......prayers for all suffering from and those battling the blaze.
Some of you may recall that I had a forest fire behind my house this year and it was horrifying. That fire was like a match compared to the one going on over there. I cannot fathom what they are going through. I seriously hope it ends soon and people can start healing.
In and around much of the DC metro area yes, bad news for many, but actually, personally blessed from power and cable standpoint, 100% unscathed except for some downed trees in my immediate area, etc. Just one of those strange things.
I'm having trouble uploading images so here is a link with some. http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?p=260145 I wanted to show how close this was to the academy. The pic of the chapel was from last tuesday or wednesday when everything really flared up. USAFA is resuming normal ops today. Last I heard last night it was 55% contained but everything depends on our winds and weather. The air quality is getting much better, a few days last week it was smokey all over town and gave alot of people problems. My house is across town from the fires so I'm doing ok, hope my fellow springs fins fans are ok too!
I have family in Colorado out of their home ATM . My niece had to move her wedding from Riodoso NM last Sat it turned out very nice but the downs just missed being burnt to the ground. I drew out for a high quality bow elk hunt for the first time in eight years. Guess what's burning? The area I drew out for. We are surounded by fire we need rain very very bad. Its so dry in the forest right now. The smoke some days is terrible people with asthma are haveing a hard time. I could go on and on. May God help these families and wildlife.
At one point about a week or two ago, we had 10 fires going statewide. It's so dry out here, plus high winds. The two big fires were going on in Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.
The winds really screwed with Colorado Springs. They started to get control, but one night of 65-70 mph winds, no one can control that. That's why CS lost over 340 homes in one night.
