another offensive line addition being negotiated? just read something somewhere but can't locate it at the moment it said that Miami was interesting in Jake & Jake was interested in Miami that they had already met once & were undergoing preliminary negotiations his signing would give you an immediate elite guard that plays either side Ireland will be looking for solutions right up until game time. just never know what's next. http://www.titansonline.com/team/roster/Jake-Scott/e75ee807-322e-43c4-98c1-c31a49cf6a3f
If that happened and Martin pans out like some think he will, we could have a very close to "elite" line this season.
I looked for the source I originally read & didn't find the one I had eluded to... however, can confirm he was in a meeting with Miami on the 25th of March two months is a long time to leave something on the table this time of year
I know our offensive line is bad and all, but Jake Scott? Is he coming out of retirement? Does he know that number #13 is retired? oooh, THAT Jake Scott.
Not really. Maybe in years past but apparently this year all 32 NFL teams have not been too hasty in signing FA like Scott to contracts. Last I heard was the article mentioned where we and him were interested in each other. After that, the kid has dropped off the planet earth. I am guessing him and his agent are waiting for some sort of need due to injury then they could maybe get close to what they are asking. Other then that thought, Jake Scott has signed no where yet. The teams that had plenty of cap space have spent their money and the teams that are close to the cap are watching every penny. Scott, who is a good player, just got caught in the middle this year.
Last I heard was they got into contact with him and they would address it after the draft. I imagine they will make a decision early in camp on Scott
He would be an OK addition. I think he's still available because he thinks he's worth more than he is. He's a good pass protecting guard, but I question his anchor in pass protection when confronted by much bigger players, and at his size he will indeed run into some of those "much bigger" players. He's not a particularly good run blocker at all. I think I'd rather try Lydon Murtha at right guard.
Last position Murtha would ever play is right guard. He does not have the strength, power or ballz to be a right guard. If anything, he is a tackle and with his injury history thats even a reach as a starter. A right guard that cannot move people that is 6'7" is counter productive in any current offensive scheme.
Let's see how many people will get this. If Jake Scott comes to play in Miami will he wear number 13?
Ireland commented something to the effect that Jake Scott was still within the realm of later considerations, that he was always open to an upgrade, an acorn, anything regardless of time frame that will benefit the team.
today's paper: Scott also visited Arizona but remains unsigned. He's not going to wait for any team if he gets an offer to his liking. The Dolphins must hope that Jerry either shows enough in OTAs the next few weeks or that Scott remains available for a while if Jerry doesn't.
