This is our home field named Albee Stadium. It is surrounded by Redwoods and is a very nice facility. The Team room is the building back in the distance behind the high jump pits It's official. I accepted an offer to become the Head Coach at Eureka High School in Northern California last week. Eureka is 5 hours north of San Francisco. Eureka is on the beach, but also in the hills and Redwoods. The town is around 25,000 and is the largest High School in Humboldt County. Here is a link to our new facebook page, which has a bunch of highlights on it from the 2011 season. We go into 2012 with 2 players (a TE that is 6'4 260 and an OL 6'2 250) having already received multiple offers and of course my son Codi will be joining us in Eureka. Our OL will be huge and our QB is returning. He had 14 TD's and only 2 INT's last season. He also had around 1,500 yards passing. Eureka is the former High School of Bengals LB Rey Maualuga and former Bengal WR Maurice Purify. We also have a player currently at USC Soma Vainuku who happens to be Rey's cousin. It's a fantastic job and although it's 14 hours away I do have a brother that lives in town. We are very excited. Eureka won the North Coast Championship in 2009. We do have a brutal schedule this year, starting out playing a team twice our size from Santa Rosa. http://www.facebook.com/EurekaLoggersHighSchoolFootball WE ARE THE EUREKA LOGGERS
Thanks. I also forgot to mention that you all might notice that we have Under Armor uniforms. We have them in all white, all green, and all Scarlet. Under Armor has selected us to serve as their Northern California franchise for the next 3 seasons and they will be donating 30k in gear / equipment during that stretch.
Congrats, man. I coach WRs at a small private school in Southern California. I doubt we'll ever play eachother, but that would be kind of cool. That's really cool though. Maybe one day I'll get a HC job where we meet up. Good luck on this season. Just out of curiosity, what offense and defense are you planning to run?
Grats on the job in Eureka. I hear Eureka has some rumored super secretive military base full of crazy mad scientist. Have u seen yet it? Or was that Eureka, OR. Oh yeah, I also hear Humboldt County has some of the finest Mary Jane's in CA. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
St. Monica Catholic in Santa Monica. Lower division team. We just had a HC change last year so I know the hurdles that can bring, but for us it was a huge benefit as the new HC is very good and has already changed the culture at the school.
Looks like a great place to coach Coach! Sincere best wishes , I hope you receive great joy , and success . Just hope you are not too busy to post every once in a while .
Congrats Mike! Keep us up to date on all the good things and any recruits Alen should start scouting now for the for the 2016 draft. Its never too early you know
Awesome. If you can find time, you should do a small weekly update during the season. Would love to follow how things are going. Congrats!
Congratulations, Mike.. I really appreciate working with kids (anyone under 25 is now a kid to me!) and I pray your passion for that is the only thing that exceeds your passion for the game.
Sweet.....hey .....do ya'll sell hats or tshirts to raise money......if so...give me a link, Id love to show Logger pride in Vermont!!
Blessings and good things on your new endeavor. I'm sure you'll make a great coach and even better example to these young man on what a real man should act like and aspire to.
Congrats Mike! And for those of you with potty brains like myself, check out what the short hand version of the thread title is for this on the index page...
Some pics of our first few days of practice. We started with 110 players on the roster. We got everyone in an Under Armor Spirit Pack for the first day of practice. Red is underclassmen and Green are the returning varsity kids. The pics are from our practice in our stadium. Really beautiful place. I'm our RB coach and these pics are me with just my RB's. We have a great situation and lots of kids. It takes alot of work getting them all coached up as you can imagine with over 30 RB's. I thought you guys would enjoy seeing the place and I'm as happy as a clam.
Green is returners? Holy Smokes Mike, you got your work cut-out for you. Make us all proud sir. Loggers huh? Was Stout's and Pilsner's already taken? How many of your kids end up going to U of Northern Arizona? Somebody will make the connection. Anywho, beautiful part of the Country. I imagine you will be moving North? That's a tough thing to commute and then home on the weekends, but I'm sure that's a hurdle you studied before embarking on this! Ripe fertile ground for you to make your mark on the coaching world! Keep us up to date please. This is great news!!!
