Default Miami signs former receiver to play DB

    http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports...o-play-db.html

On Thursday the team announced the signing of defensive back Quinton Lawrence, who the Kansas City Chiefs selected in the sixth-round of the 2009 draft.
Back in college this Louisiana native caught 99 passes for 1,905 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.
However, he played some defensive back and toke his only career punt return 70 yards for a touchdown.
Don't know much about this kid, probably just a training camp body but who knows. Any thoughts?

Saw that and just thought he was such a small signing it was not really worth mentioning tbh.

Just need to bring in Drew Brees in as a kicker/holder.

The chiefs have decent depth in their secondary... maybe what they considered not worth keeping around is someone that proves to be a decent nickel or dime corner for us?

Look at their roster - flowers / arenas / carr / berry / piscetelli / washington... certainly the depth players sound a bit more attractive than jones and carrol. With that said - I'm not sure where KC stands in terms of contracts and all that, but their solid secondary means this kid may be a bit better than you initially expect. Still probably camp fodder, but you never know.

Sorry I dont have any real insight on the individual player haha.

Flat out never heard of the guy, more likely to get some solid intel on him if this were posted in Club Level.
