I'm not sure when the coin flip happens, I think it is on the first day of the draft.

Nice, I'd like to pick up the first "win" of the offseason on that coin toss.

That coin flip is interesting in that it would probably cost a #4 draft pick to move up 1 slot in the Top 10 of the draft, so hopefully we can win it and move up for "free".

What is the scoop on Quinton Coples? I understand he played some DT as a junior but he looks more like a LE. I'm thinking the Dolphins could easily switch to a 4-3 if they just add a serious pass rush threat across from Wake.

    burnett - dansby - misi
    wake - odrick - starks - coples

    Should really pressure the quarterback.

I guess this is unlikely if they hire Pettine.

Coaching will be key - they need to get this settled relatively fast I think. Will the new coach look at QB as a major need position? Will he consider a 4-3 switch? Will he keep the Nolan or Daboll systems? These questions really need to be answered before we can pencil in a high confidence pick. But my thoughts on the draft as a whole would be QB/WR/CB/OLB(passrush)

For me, QB remains the top priority. Would like to trade for Luck if possible without giving more than an arm and a leg, but that will be difficult. After that, the question is whether we would value Griffon enough to trade into the top 4 (ahead of Cleveland and Washington). Failing both of them, how might we regard a development guy in Tannehill - he might be a board climber, as he is raw but talented, the type of guy who often seems to do well in workouts and the Combine.

Lots of people will throw in Weeden, but personally I have a hard time seeing him going in round 1. The wild card might be Ossweiler, whom CK seems rather high on. Is he worth a top 10, and might he make it past the Cleveland/Washington trap? Best case QB wise is for Indy to pass on Luck, question is who makes the move for him if there is one made.

Outside of QB, I think we can look at WR. We still need playmakers imo. You look at the better offenses, and besides an elite QB they all have tons of weapons. Gronk/Hernandez/Welker in NE, Jennings/Finley/Nelson in GB, Colston/Graham/Meachum/Sproles in NO, Jackson/Gates/Floyd in SD, White/Turner/Gonzo/Jones in Atlanta. We trot out a good theat in Marshall and Bush, but there really isnt anyone else who can strike fear into an opponent or make them gameplan, they are just adequate.

I suspect Blackmon to go in the top 3-5 easily, he is a monster. Floyd is getting hype, and while he is talented, he still seems iffy to me. Alshon Jefferey is a bit under the radar atm, but as Boik will tell you, he is a beast and could be a solid guy at our spot. No TE worth taking that high imo, and we shouldn't blow our pick on Richardson.

OL I am fine on spending lower ranked resources on, but I think it folly to spend yet another first rounder on the OL, be it RT or G. Unless there is serious long term problems with Long, we should be ok trying Jerry/Garner, bringing in lower round guys or free agents.

If we dont go QB or WR defense would be appropriate. There is a good shot Claiborne will be gone, but Kirkpatrick is pretty solid and you simply cannot have enough good corners in this league of spread offense. Pass rush to compliment Wake is a good route to take as well. Coples or maybe Upshaw.

Dark horse may be ILB, as there are some solid inside backers this year. 8-9 seems a bit high, but if there is a Willis type it might not be a bad idea to kick either Dansby or Burnett outside to rush a bit and be playmakers and let a force roam the middle.

Shame there is no really highly regarded safeties as that is a big weak spot on our D. I still lament passing on Earl Thomas, probowler.
