Brandon Browner has also had a tonne of holding, illegal contact and PI penalties. He struggled pretty bad early on this year. Been getting better though. Be shocked if Mitchell is back in BC. Solomon I could see back as hes a tad undersized for the NFL imo.

He's agent seems certain he will get a NFL offer, I suspect he will as well.

Tomorrow these guys can start signing, or Tuesday, hope we land some of them.

Oddity, but the Jags have no one on the practice squad ATM, I'd think they are going to have a flurry of signings.

Olafioye – Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Steelers, Jets, Giants, Colts, Panthers

Elimimian - Eagles, Bucs, Jets, Jaguars, Vikings.

    Mitchell – Dolphins, Vikings, Eagles.
Oddly enough, Olafioye was scheduled to work out for...the Colts today, with the Polians being fired they canceled the workout.

More oddity, as nearly as I can determine, Jovon Johnson has visited the Browns and Eagles, but today's eagles stuff appears to have pushed back any meeting he may have had planned.

Eagles plan on parting company with Asante Samuel, so they are sniffing around Cb's.

B.C Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian in Jacksonville today - St Louis tomorrow as he continues NFL tour.

NY Giants really like B.C Lions OL Jovan Olafioye but Olafioye will finish NFL tour before talking contract.
Sol-E's mkt looks more limited then olafioye's.

NFL watch: #Bombers DB Jovon Johnson, the top defensive player
in the #CFL in 2011, will workout for the Jacksonville Jaguars today.
Wonder if he drops by Davie afterwards?

B.C Lions defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell is close to signing with the Miami Dolphins.
    Nice!

Still would like to sniff around Jovon Johnson though.

Let me add the Riders added fmr 2nd rd pick Robert Veikune, the league is sort of stocking up on guys who were great OLB/DE prospects for the NFL who did not pan out for one reason or another:

    Esks: Marcus Washington/Julious Williams
    Stamps: Chris McCoy
    Riders: Vekune
    TiCats: Robert Rose

I have not followed the CFL long enough to say if this is the norm, or if there is a sort of Cam Wake effect happening, add in John Chick and Phillip Hunt were rostered in the NFL as pass rushers/special teamers and I tend to think this is a trend

    Looks about 5'8 or so, 4.59 40.

Erie native Jovon Johnson's tryout with the Cincinnati Bengals has been pushed back to Jan. 11.

Johnson, the reigning CFL defensive player of the year, recently signed a two-year contract to remain with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but he has drawn interest from about a dozen NFL teams. He also is scheduled to try out with the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday.

Johnson appeared in four games with the Steelers in 2007.
    http://www.goerie.com/article/201112...ls-rescheduled

Never know, interest in him appears to be picking up steam.

    Mitchell's pre CFL scouting report:

According to NFL Network‘s college scouting report of Mitchell, the defensive tackle is best utilized in space, where he’s able to use his long arms and athleticism to make plays along the line. He is reportedly “fluid when running in space, chases down the line and hustles downfield, can push his man into the backfield when gaining leverage one-on-one, [and] uses his length to wrap up ball-carriers after they get into the hole.” However, Mitchell “must improve his hand play to get off blocks and beat his man in pass rush, leans into his man too much, costing him balance and allowing linemen to use his movement against him; [and is] susceptible to cut blocks because of his height.”
Sounds a bit like Tony McDaniel

    RavensInsider Aaron Wilson
Jaguars tried out former Ravens WR Marcus Smith, CFL LB Solomon Elimimian, CFL OL Jovan Olafioye, QB Chase Clement, FFL WR Andy Fantuz,
What's interesting is that is the first time Oliafioye's name has come up in re Jax, and Andy Fantuz's name is the first time anywhere and explains why he wouldn't sign a deal with the Riders, Fantuz wants to play in the NFL but he is coming as close to being a Diva as a CFL Wr can get.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have auditioned 13 players, according to a leauge source with knowledge of the situation.

That included several players from the Canadian Football League, including wide receiver Andy Fantuz.

Fantuz was with the Chicago Bears during the preseason.

They also tried out CFL linebacker Solomon Elimimian, offensive lineman Jovan Olafioye and linebacker Jerrell Freeman.

Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Marcus Smith also worked out for the Jaguars as well as running back Marcus Thigpen, defensive ends Jermaine McElveen and Justin Hickman, wide receivers Andy Mims, Andy Brewer, Duke Calhoun and Jermaine McElveen, former Rice quarterback Chase Clement and defensive backs Jovon Johnson
    Per Scout.com

They pretty much worked out every guy in my top 9:

    -Jovon Johnson
    -Justin Hickman
    -Jovon Oliafioye
    -Sol-E
    -Jerrell Freeman
    -Marcus Thigpen

    They only passed on

    #4 Khalif Mitchell
    #7 Greg Carr
    #9 Justin Medlock

Andy Fantuz was my #2 guy in 2011

Hearing B.C Lions defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell got a 20,000 dollar signing bonus from the Miami Dolphins. Not bad
Apparently we landed him, with 1 practice squad slot left, I guess it is down to waiting for the announcement.

FWIW I think this is legit as the Jags worked out pretty much every significant CFL to NFL prospect save for...Khalif Mitchell, and the Jags run the 4-3, so it would stand to reason they didn't work him out because he had already signed elsewhere

The Miami Dolphins purge of the CFL continues, as they have signed Lions DT Khalif Mitchell and Ticats RB Marcus Thigpen.
Marcus Thigpen as well, so from the 12/19 workout group, only Jovon Olifioye has not signed..yet.

Yes, simply because Ireland has to land him imo.

If he is the wizard at finding diamonds in the rough, if that is what is keeping him employed, why wouldn't he offer the max 60 signing bonus for him? He also plays a position we need someone at, RG, as well as RT.

Would be great, but don't get to hyped if it happens, keep in mind they are just having the door opened for them, what they do afterwards is up to them, and things like the draft, injuries, whether a coach likes them etc

Congrats to former #TorontoArgos draft pick Cory Greenwood, who
has signed a 4-yr contract extension in Kansas City.
Cory G was the #2 overall in the 2010 CFL draft, great athlete, never played in the CFL as he made KC's roster, he is something of a ST daemon.

On Friday night, owner Jim Irsay disclosed on Twitter (where else?) that, by the end of the day on Monday, the Colts will have interviewed seven candidates for the vacant G.M. position.

One of the candidates is long-time CFL G.M. Jim Popp.

Irsay revealed Popp after offering “$200 and a Real NFL Football” to whoever guesses the name of the “dark horse” candidate from Canada.

And, of course, Irsay thereafter sought input on Popp from his Twitter followers. “Look at this man’s accomplishments!” Irsay wrote. “Does he deserve NFL shot or not a good fit in NFL??”

Apparently, Irsay liked what he saw: “It’s friday night, last call 4 beverage, and twitter world says Popp just might have right stuff! Holy ****e!”

Popp has worked for the Montreal Alouettes for 16 seasons, currently serving as Vice President, General Manager, Director of Football Operations, and Director of Player Personnel. During his time there, the Alouettes have had
    per PFT

That would be stunning, Popp is cemented into Montreal's fixtures, but a competent GM, I seriously doubt Irsay would make this move, but keep in mind, the packers' Qb Coach Tom Clement is a long time CFL player and coach, and the Ticats wanted Bills Qb George Cortez, a fmr Ticats staff member, for head coach.

    RavensInsider Aaron Wilson
Rams try out two CFL players: OL Jovan Olafyoye and Solomon Elimimian
I believe that is workout #11 for JovanO, and the rams do make sense for him as their OL was as bad as ours in 2011, so from his pov, he'd have a better chance of starting and then earning a larger contract.

    RavensInsider Aaron Wilson
Buccaneers try out LB Jerrell Freeman, per a league source
My #6 player, he'd fit in as a weakside Lb in the 4-3 imo
