    Hey guys, I haven't been able to keep up with college football as much so can some of you who have knowledge of the quarterbacks coming out this year give me a fair comparison to a current NFL QB so I can have some kind of idea of what we might be getting? I'll start and give it my best shot with the limited knowledge I have.

    Luck= Rodgers
    Griffin= Tavaris Jackson
    Barkley= Mark Sanchez?
    Landry Jones= Alex Smith?
    Weeden= Joe Flacco?

    Add any other prospects that I left out

    Barkley is more Carson Palmer-ish.

    IMO Tannehill is more similar to Aaron Rodgers than Luck is.

    I think Luck is just Luck. His release isn't quick enough to be in the Rodgers category. He's like mixing Tebow with someone with accuracy whose hand doesn't graze the grass while cocking his delivery.

    I too think Barkley=Sanchez.

    Landry is like Schaub as someone else pointed out.

    IMO Weeden is a mix between Henne & Brady.

    After going to youtube I totally agree.

    RG3= Tavaris Jackson

    Luck= Peyton/Rodgers

    Landry Jones= Schaub

    Matt Barkley= Carson Palmer

    Now how accurate are these comparisons? I think somebody is overrated here.

    SN: WATCHING PIT VS BAL AS I TYPE HOLY **** WHAT A CATCH BY TORREY SMITH FOR THE WIN WOWWWWW NICE THROW JOE WE NEED A QB LIKE U! CLUTCHHHHH

    When I see RG3 in highlights I see a quarterback who is accurate. I have never thought of Tavaris Jackson as an accurate quarterback.

    I think this is a case of a lazy sports fan who sees black QB and automatically equates him with either a bad black QB (Jackson) or a good black QB (Vick).

    Tavaris was not as accurate in the previous level.

    EDIT: Also, why not?

    Franchise QB:

    If he's not 6'4 or more - cross him off the list......and don't give me none of that Drew Brees crap. :)

    They're all really their own guys but:

    Barkley- Larger Drew Brees
    Griffin- Really tough to say honestly, maybe a little more mobile version of the older Randall Cunningham. I hate comparing him to black QBs but there aren't many successful mobile white QBs with his speed running around in a spread deep ball offense. How did Fran Tarkenton play? Maybe a little Tiddle in him? It's really tough to say on him.
    Luck- Mobile Manning but a less accomplished passer. He's developed and he's flawless but as far as being special, I'm not sure on that one. He doesn't have Elway in him. He's more mobile Troy Aikman or Joe Montana style, which is great no doubt.
    Weeden- He has some Marino/Brady but on the level of a Matt Schaub.
    Tannehill- Very tough comparison. He plays like a more shifty, smaller QB but is full-sized. Wild guess? Matt Hasselbeck with mobility.

    Agreed on Barkley being like Brees. I like him a lot. Every game of his I watch he impresses me more. Great foot work and smart in the pocket. Luck is out of reach, so no point in going there. Haven't seen much on Griffin. Jones is good, but hard to judge because that offense can be very dink and dunk, but he has tools. I watched the OSU game Saturday night. Weeden looks good. Rocket arm, but at 28, meh. Draft him and then the process starts all over again in 5-6 years.

    When you START the list with that measurement, you can get a leg up on the draft guru. Because once you draw the line at 6'4-6'6 you end up searching the D2 stats for the same measurement. Then you too can say you knew Joe Flacco before he was 1st round pick Joe Flacco.

    IMO this list is peppered with middle round picks for height alone. D1 is full of hyped up QBs that will ultimately fail to ever start in the NFL because they can't see down the field for the freakish size in front of them.

    Height isn't something to ignore. There are great QBs that get around it, but it's an impediment for a number of QBs. Even Chad Henne at 6-2 could have seriously benefited had he been two inches taller. It's no surprise that Brady, Manning, Big Ben and a number of the great ones had solid height. Now Montana I admit was 6-2, but that seems to be the cut off. After that it's a matter of exceptions, QBs like Brees, Vick, and Young that come along once in a while.
