I know we don't usually pick teams until after the season is over. GIK, what do you think of picking the SFL contenders now? Maybe the bottom five? Indy, Miami and three other teams to be decided? The GM's couldn't make any transactions. It's just what we're doing now with our beloved Dolphins. Waiting and watching and following all the contenders.... Thoughts? It could be comedy gold....
I actually think this is a good idea. That way, everyone isn't trying to get the worst team when we have to pick our top five.
Well what teams do you feel should be "given" this early? Indianapolis, Miami, St. Louis, Arizona, and Jacksonville? Or should Minnesota/Carolina be added to the pool as well?
Seems fair.. I'll likely do that but give teams on a first-come, first-serve basis... Now the question is... who do I want?
Good question. Not sure about adding the Vikings and Carolina. One would have to think that they don't finish in the top three at this point. And their qb's are pretty well settled with Ponder and Newton. I would leave them out. I would go with those first five. Certainly the question now is how do you assign those teams? That's why you get paid the big bucks GIK. I'm not sure about your first come first served idea. Since this is totally out of precedence. What you could do, is have a radomizer pick the ORDER of the GM's who "qualify" for these teams. The order would determine the priority of the five who make the list. Like a draft. This might make it easier and more fair since one of the teams happens to be our Dolphins. Of course, there's an element of risk involved. If you want to be in this list, you might get stuck with a crappy team not named the Dolphins... Oh, you might want to add the Broncos into the group too.
Even if Minny's and AZ's QB situation was settled (AZ's is far from settled if they get the #1 pick, because Kolb sucks), they are still in play for the #1 pick (which could be traded). I think teams should be awarded by pulling names out of a hat, and anyone who wants to be in the "drawing" can be, not first come, first serve. I think we should agree on the order of most likely to get the #1 pick, and we pick teams in the reverse order (7th likely, then 6th, then 5th, etc). So for example my name might get drawn for Minny and then Paul's might get drawn for Arizona, and we work our way down until (again, for example) Alen gets the Colts.
The drawing/lottery should be posted on youtube to avoid any shenanigans. You should even show the time stamp on thephins.com.
