Yanks pick up option http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...nkees-pick-options-robinson-cano-nick-swisher
Yeah might as well, sign a guy back who cant hit a beach ball in the playoffs.....when they could have got a Type A for him instead....I was reading somewhere that the Yankees wanted a list of Swishers teams on his no trade clause (there are 6) before they excerised the option... They excerised Cano's option too.....
CC has got a new contract, 1 year extension w/option yr to the existing deal....nice.....Cashman clicking right along with these moves to date. Smart man!
Great news to read if you're a Yankee fan. Glad we have him locked up . My biggest worry was him leaving Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Also seems like Cashman negotiated a few clauses into the contract regarding shoulder injuries...this is how you get it done, if you want to stay and NY, it is quick and easy, dont drag it out like some other guy did last year.....
speculative at best...will wait for ACTUAL confirmations before muddying up what will and wont happen.....HotStove it is!
Have to see what all other options are, but we could do worse as a #5. Would be concerned if he is our #3. Rolling the dice a second go round could come up snake-eyes. In other news.....based on the bold....I can understand Cashman's thinking.
way to much money? what was he making 150 g's a year? or something like that? I don't know what the option was for. But based on it being from his rookie contract, I highly doubt it was for much.
4 years/$4.55M (2007-10), plus club options through 2013, not too mention he got a $3.35M signing bonus, on a guy who they knew had to have TJ surgery....this is just an ugly signing back in 07, and I am glad they didnt waste anymore resources on him, because he had triggers on options that would have put him in 13M dollar range.....terrible terrible signing.... now watch him get picked up by Tampa and be lights out...
I would assume that, that $3.35 came out of that $4.55. I would of just given him a little more time.
300K a year? Your the yankees...incase you have forgotten. You can afford to pump 300K a year to a 25 year old lefty former first round pick.
So doesn't mean you throw money away, come on bro....he had escalators on this contract that if they exercised his options for 2 more years, would have made this a 13M dollar contract.....
Get out of here, and make your own thread......!!!! Seriously though there should be a dedicated TB thread /hinthint
JT as the mod needs to take posts 13 to this one...and move it to the HOT STOVE speculation news/debate thread...to much clutter over a non-topic in the ACTUAL 2012 thread....
Your post #12 is fine no issue with it......but everything after (including this response) could/should have been in the HOT STOVE conversation is all..... Half this 2012 thread occured over an error in judgement and confusion by Nappy...seriously, Half.....
Unfortunately I always post Rays info in Saux and yanks threads. because its usually my talking to myself in a Rays thread. always has been....
Consider it the calm before the storm of me blowing up with banter....LIKE THIS!!!!! Why the eff are they even considering this guy, seriously? Enough with wash outs, either put together a package for Danks, Kershaw, or whoever, but stop with Roy freaking Oswalt.....ugh the Sox would destroy him...
http://www.myyesnetwork.com/16197/blog/2011/11/04/cano_loving_the_limelight_in_taiwan another Cano article.....
[h=1]Brian Cashman On Wilson, Pujols, Sabathia[/h]By Mike Axisa [November 4, 2011 at 12:17pm CST] Yankees GM Brian Cashman made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show this morning, and Chad Jennings of The Journal News provided a recap. Let's round up the hot stove news... "I'd say it's fair to say C.J. Wilson is probably the best pitcher on the marketplace right now since CC Sabathia's been taken out and retained here," said Cashman. "I don’t think it's a stretch to tell anybody that he’s the most attractive candidate." Cashman cautioned that he's talking about Wilson in terms of talent and performance, not necessarily cost. "You have your priority list and how it looks," said Cashman. "But then it gets rearranged by cost analysis." "I think he would be on anybody's wish list," said Cashman when asked about Albert Pujols. "In our circumstances, our roster, he doesn't fit. It's not an efficient way to try to allocate your resources." Cashman said re-signing Sabathia "was not a layup," and admitted there were some nervous moments leading up to the deadline for his ace left-hander to opt-out. "That’s never a fun process, but the resolution we’re really happy with, and we know he is." When asked if he sees himself getting fired or retiring, Cashman joked "I would say that normally you get fired. I think it’s a healthy way to look at it. I think at some point, they usually tell you to go."
Mariano needs SURGERY!!!!!!! Mariano Rivera told Anthony McCarron of the New York Daily News that he probably needs surgery on his vocal cords.
This is sad, I am going to take this rough.....more rough than any other Yankee retiring to date.....
Mo always plays it cool...each year could be his last. Well, its not a bad idea in general, a fine plan B....but expecting him to repeat would be to high. I am hoping one of the B's if not Both are solid insurance and in the rotation by mid-season.
Lets pause for the birthday of God as we know him, also known as, Mariano Rivera..... Number 42, turns 42.....amazing amazing career....
Would like to see the Yanks take a shot with Gonzo, low low money or any serviceable arm.....they need another LHP out of the pen.....the Sox line-up is loaded with left handed hitters...
If this works out, this is probably the end of Nunez in New York....wonder if they package Nunez, eat AJ's contract, and throw in another prospect, will that get it done for Danks?
Now why would Chicago take AJ Burnett back in a deal like that? They're in rebuilding mode now so it would make zero sense for them to take AJ Burnett even if the Yankees ate half his salary. But yeah it probably means Nunez is on the block now.
I know I was talking ALL of the contract.....which is ridiculous, but they would have him for free for 2 years at that point.... Also I dont know how I feel about this kinda, because IMO I think there is more upside in Nunez as a 24 year old, as opposed to this dude who is 29, and unproven.... If a trade does come down it better be good...
