Seriously, there's no Arkham City thread? Really? Okay, here, have the latest trailer starring the Joker. I'm going to go ahead and say it: Mark Hamill is better as the Joker than he is as Luke Skywalker. And if not for that pesky Heath Ledger he'd have sole claim to the best representation of the character.
Wow, so there was a thread, but no one's posted in it since February. Well, too bad, we're using mine because it's cleaner. No cobwebs. Arkham City has gone gold. For those not up on their tech lingo, gone gold means that the master copy of the game has been pressed (on a gold disc, thus "gone gold") and has been released to manufacturing. Comes out October 21 for PS360, and some time in November for PC. Better not be too late in November, because Assassin's Creed Revelations and Saints Row The Third will be taking up my November gaming time.
Arkham Asylum was money and it looks like they improved and expanded on it in every way possible. I think this is a slam dunk must own game. I love when a studio really invests into a game and puts guys who truly "get it" on the project. These are guys that understand Batman and the tone is perfect. My favorite trailer so far is actually the Mr Freeze spot. The narrative about watching a flower decay and die is just awesome.
To be fair, they're basically just recreating Batman: The Animated Series. Most of TAS' voice actors were brought back, the character designs are similar, and they generally have the same tone and feel. So it's not like Rocksteady is putting out a hugely creative original effort here: they just had the good sense to realize that TAS was pretty damn awesome.
They are reusing the voice acting (and good for them for recognizing how terrific it was) but the storyline and the stakes are ratcheted WAY up.
Never said anything to the contrary. That's mainly due to the format, though. A 24 minute TV show spanning multiple seasons doesn't really necessitate the same level of tension that an 8 hour video game or a 2 hour movie need.
I never played the first game, should I get that first? eh who am I kidding, I can wait until next Tuesday when BF3 comes out, then we have three straight releases in a row... BF3, Uncharted 3, and MW3....
I think the first one was a little overrated, actually. Decent enough game but not the milestone it's been made out to be. The new one is pretty damn terrific, tho.
You could always trade in some old games. If you go to Best Buy Trade In they will show you online the exact trade in value they will give you. Also there is a promotion that when you use the trade in credit to buy Arkham City you get extra value. I traded in The Show 11, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops and they gave me $65 Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
I would never trade in Black Ops. That's going to be one of those games I'll probably still be playing when I'm 80 (if the servers still exist).
I bought the game today and got 30 dollars off my next video game(MWF3) I buy at K-Mart. If you havent bought it get it from Kmart before Sunday.
Screw Gamestop, you can order games from Newegg.com for cheaper. Most of the free crap that you get from Gamestop you end up getting in the game anyways, i would rather get the game cheaper. For instance, i pre-ordered Ultimate Marvel and paid $29.99. free shipping and no tax, the game is normally $39.99.
This game is pretty sweet. Didn't play the first one so it's taken me some time to get used to it. I find myself playing in L2 / infrared or whatever its called mode a lot.
Walmart runs a promo where if you buy arkham city, you get a free copy of arkham asylum. so i actually have 2 arkham asylums now. i beat the story mode, was a little surprised how quick that went, although i still have tons of side stuff to do. this game is beautiful.
