Please give a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place vote for each "Best Of" category as well as your 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place vote for the "GM of the Year" award. You MAY vote for yourself in everything but the GM of the Year award. I tried to make things as easy as possible but some things you'll have to go back to the Final Roster thread (such as best offense, best in trades, etc.) Thank you all for a very good year in the GM League. It went even smoother this year and I'm glad that it had some pretty memorable moments.

We can vote for ourselves? This is going to be a cluster-F. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m only going to vote for myself if I genuinely can’t find an equal or better alternative. Edit: Since everyone seems to be acting responsibly, I’ve removed my self-votes as well.

Quick summary of my voting: I’m trying to reward and support GMs who built something out of nothing. I also want to reward GMs who put in more work of good quality, rather than GMs who had the luxury of starting with great teams. IMO, if you start with a great team or some sort of hugely innate advantage, you need to field a 10 year dynasty to get my vote over a GM who started with nothing and built a playoff contender, even if that resulting team might lose to the inherited team. This is the GM League, not the Head Coach League, so roster management (including cap management) is most influential on my voting.

I absolutely refuse to vote for myself. I dont think that should be allowed. What would stop me from voting myself first in every category? I know the job I did, I think its as good as anyone but the point of the vote is to show the respect for the jobs other GMs did in my opinion.

In the end we are all winners. Learning the game, having fun together. Killing time in the offseason, if you will. It's been fun, the last four years has been a tremendous blast for me. The Texans, Chargers, Dolphins and Patriots. Getting to know you all. I've met some really cool people that I hope I can stay in contact with beyond this. This will be my last season in the GML. I know I said I wasn't going to partake this season and I changed my mind. I'll be starting my own business shortly and I think, well I hope, I'll be too busy next tax season. I wanted to go out with a bang. Take one of the best teams in the league and mold them in a way that would make any Patriot fan proud. I had to convert half of my top picks into starters, impact players, via trade and then use the rest of the draft to acquire remaining areas that needed impact or depth. I believe I did that. It's hard to convince Dolfans to vote for the Patriots and so I don't expect to win. But in the end that's fine. I'm happy with what I did. Happy with what you all accomplished. Congrats to you all. Thank you for making another season so much fun. Thank you to brother GIK for being the best commish in the world. Thank you to all the volunteers that devoted so much time to this. And thank you to all those that negotiated a trade with me. There's nothing like a good negotiation where both sides feel they won. All the best.

This is graded a little differently than the other categories for me anyway. It's not about who has the "best" of anything here. Not a tangible measurement. It's all about the intangibles. It's who carried themselves with the most respect for others, who devoted a ton of time in their writeups. Who just spent a crapload of time in here. It's a tough vote... there are many of you who are deserving.

First off I want to once again thank everyone for an extremely smooth GM League. I really enjoyed doing this as a Commissioner but also as a GM. I wouldn't run this thing if I didn't enjoy doing it as it kills time during the offseason and forces me to do a lot of scouting with the NFL Draft. I am happy to see some rookies really get into it this year and hopefully they will all be back next year. Since everyone else opted to not vote for themselves, I will do the same.

    GM OF THE YEAR
    1. Kansas City Chiefs - Vengeful Odin
    2. Philadelphia Eagles - UCF Finatic
    3. Baltimore Ravens - Skeet84

I really like how VO presented himself throughout this entire league. He was easily one of the most professional GMs this year (as he was in the past) and I beleive he succeeded in trades, free agency, and the draft. I think that both UCF Finatic and Skeet84 did the exact same things but not to the extent of VO. Major props go out to all three GMs for doing a great job of creating a plan and sticking with it.

    GM OF THE YEAR
    1. Falcons - UCFinfan86
    2. Titans - Gish
    3. Patriots - Paul13

This was really, really hard to select only three. There were so many GM's that did great jobs this year. I wanted to make room for the Ravens, Chiefs, and Dolphins; to those teams I apologize. I love what the Falcons did to improve their offense and defense; just a great overall team that can compete right now. This entire time I was mad about how Gish managed the Manning ordeal, releasing him then signing him cheaper (everything). He is one crazy GM and after some time I realized what a good job he did. His defense is lacking, but that offense is dope. If he wins any games it will be like 54-47 lol. Overall, he turned the Titans around and did a good job, while pushing the limits of the rules; my kind of man lol. I felt bad that Paul was getting no love so I had to give him some here. He did start with a lot of talent and picks, but he used those pieces to build a heck of a team. Good job to all!

Hopefully this time next year I will be preparing to go to Dental School. I feel confident that they greenhorns will be able to pick up the slack after looking at what great jobs they all did this year. I have to go study for my Dental Admissions Test now, but I will try to make my way back on here and add a little more writing about my selections tonight or tomorrow. Love you all

Ugh. I hate voting in this category. Invariably I forget someone or leave someone off. I could just use the regular cliches and state that this was really, really hard. Which is true.

As for how I voted here these are the guys who I felt handled themselves the most professionally. I also liked the approach that each and every one of them took to building their teams. They didn't just pursue the big names, they went after guys who fit what they were looking to do.

I really wanted to add a couple more names to this list, but I simply can't slot them any differently ... hopefully those GMs get recognition in other categories.

    TEAM ON THE RISE
    1. Arizona Cardinals
    2. Indianapolis Colts
    3. Detroit Lions

Despite losing Fitz, I like how Arizona turned those picks around and started to rebuild. It's never easy to trade the face of a franchise, but I felt like they maximized their value in return. The same can also be said for the Colts.

    TEAM BUILT FOR NOW
    1. New England Patriots
    2. Chicago Bears
    3. New York Giants

Paul had a lot of pieces to play with, what with the 54 draft picks he had. Still, he did a very nice job of getting proven offensive stars and focusing on defense in the draft. The Pats are clearly in a win-now mode, and with the moves he's made it's quite possible they might win it all.

FREE AGENT STEAL OF THE YEAR
    1. Vernon Carey (San Francisco)
    2. Thomas Howard (New York Giants)
    3. Flozel Adams (Tennessee)

Carey is getting up there in years but can still play at a high level. Looking at his salary to other RTs you can see that Alen walked away with a steal. Both Howard and Adams played below expectations last season but those GMs are taking calculated gambles that they will rebound.

    DRAFT STEAL OF THE YEAR
    1. Dion Lewis (San Diego)
    2. Jake Locker (Minnesota)
    3. Cameron Heyward (Pittsburg)

The Chargers nab a guy who could develop into the next Darren Sproles at this level. Great value for that late in the draft. Locker and Heyward are first round talents who got taken in the second round.

    TRADE OF THE YEAR
    1. San Fran / Oakland / Baltimore 3 Way
    2. Peyton Manning Trade
    3. Texans / Eagles Andre Johnson Trade

I'm a sucker for 3 ways, and San Francisco, Oakland, and Baltimore pulling one off is quite impressive. The Manning trade would have been first had it not been for the last second histrionics of his release and subsequent renewed bidding war.

    BEST IN TRADES
    1. Philadelphia Eagles
    2. Miami Dolphins
    3. Atlanta Falcons

Have any of you seen that webpage where the dude traded a thumb tack for a car? I feel like that's what UCF does year in and year out. His philosophy is pretty simple. Get younger, cheaper, and better. It's easier than it sounds. But if you go back and look at every trade he made, he won like 99.9% of the time.

    BEST IN FREE AGENCY
    1. Broncos
    2. Cardinals
    3. 49ers

This was tough. At the end of the day I gave the nod to GIK as he brought in a ton of solid players and potential stars without breaking the bank for any of them.

    BEST IN DRAFT
    1. Chargers
    2. Ravens
    3. Bengals

I really like what Stitches did with his draft, but a special mention to Skeet, who managed to poach not one but two of my targets in the second round.

    FEUD OF THE YEAR
    1. Gish vs. PSG vs. schisno
    2. GIK34 vs. Rule Hating GMs
    3. Gish vs. Everyone

Manning was the highlight of the GM. Kudos to these gentlemen for making it entertaining.

    MOST IMPROVED GM
    1. Sean
    2. Skull Destroyer
    3.

I don't feel like Boik and Skeet needed to improve much. Sean deserves recognition for taking over the Redskins on such short notice, and doing an admirable job in the process.

    ROOKIE GM OF THE YEAR
    1. Mach
    2. Desides
    3. Stringer Bell

Mach's fingerprints are all over the 49ers (*cough* Malcolm Floyd *cough*) and while I wanted him to fire the Bills as a whole, he did a good job with even less notice than Sean. Special shout out to Desides, whom I thought did very well working with the Browns. He clearly had a plan from the start and I feel like he executed on it.

    BEST OFFENSE
    1. Titans
    2. Patriots
    3. Eagles

At one point I was wondering if any of these gentlemen were going to bother fielding a defense or offensive line. Gish wins this by virtue of his QB, whom I rate higher at this stage than either Brady or Vick (flame away Paul). I'm really looking forward to the Madden sims next year ... here's hoping we get to see these teams play one another.

    BEST DEFENSE
    1. San Francisco 49ers
    2. New York Jets
    3. New York Giants

One of the things I love is scheme versatility, and no GM did a better job finding players who could play in multiple schemes than Alen1. I love the flexibility he has on defense. They aren't all marquee names, but I suspect that they'll be surprisingly salty.

    BEST RUNNING BACK DUO/TANDEM
    1. Denver Broncos
    2. Carolina Panthers
    3. Baltimore Ravens

MJD and Ronnie Brown? You kidding me? The AFC West is going to be a slugfest. I love the Panthers combination of Williams and Sproles, and I think that the Ravens can be dangerous if Maroney rebounds.

    BEST WIDE RECEIVER UNIT
    1. New England Patriots
    2. Philadelphia Eagles
    3. Atlanta Falcons

The Pats have one guy who is playing at a HOF level, a consistent Pro Bowl receiver, and the most dangerous returner in NFL history. If it was me I would have kept Welker (could you imagine that team) but as a #1 and #1a it's the best we've seen at the NFL level in a very long time. Scary.

    BEST OFFENSE LINE
    1. Cleveland Browns
    2. New York Giants
    3. Washington Redskins

I really like Desides line, as I mentioned in my nomination post. I was targeting Sendelin but got swept up in the Khalil sweepstakes and missed out. Yanda is a guy who is a borderline Pro Bowler and Joe Thomas is the only guy better than Jake Long in the NFL today.

    BEST DEFENSE LINE
    1. Atlanta Falcons
    2. Denver Broncos
    3. New England Patriots

John Abraham I'm not sold on, but I love Henderson, Paea and Charles Johnson. Both the Broncos and Patriots have a nice mix of young studs and older stars.

    BEST LINEBACKER UNIT
    1. Baltimore Ravens
    2. San Francisco
    3. Cleveland Browns

Baltimore adds Rolando McClain to an already stacked linebacker unit. Yikes. San Francisco has versatility and the Browns have a lot of underrated youth. Toughest choice so far picking this one.

    BEST SECONDARY
    1. Detroit Lions
    2. Green Bay Packers
    3. Pittsburgh Steelers

Man, it's going to be tough to pass in the NFC North next year. The Lions added a bunch of names and completely overhauled their secondary. Green Bay picked up the guy I thought might be the best pick in the draft. And Pittsburgh has a better secondary without Polamalu than with. Who knew.

It was as close as u can get IMO, I felt that the Eagles started with less and ended up with just a little more than NE, Boik's balance wins him the #3 spot over impressive jobs by Gish and UCfinfan86. Again what you start with means alot imo, and when you turn the putrid Carolina Panthers into a contender...you have my props.

    TEAM BUILT FOR NOW
    1. New England
    2. Atlanta
    3. Tennessee

Another tough call as GM's turned their teams into some "Im going to kick your ***" powerhouses! The Pats HC is the difference that imo would make them the odds on fav to win NOW.

FREE AGENT STEAL OF THE YEAR
    1. Thomas Davis
    2. Leon Washington
    3. Vernon Carey

Let me just say the one thing I thought was RIDICULOUS was that people didnt recognize the REAL FA steal in Stanford Routt who is a fine player. Either way the same team got another great steal in OLB Thomas Davis who is a very underated all around LB.

    DRAFT STEAL OF THE YEAR
    1. Christian Ponder
    2. Marvin Austin
    3. DeMarcus Van Dyke

Ive said many times that the real draft has ZERO bearing on my voting process, Ponder is going to be a very good QB in this league imo and Cleveland stole their QB of the future at pick #28.

    TRADE OF THE YEAR
    1. SF/OAK/BAL
    2. ATL/Pitt
    3. IND/TENN

    BEST IN TRADES
    1. Philly
    2. Atlanta
    3. Tennessee (IDC he deserves mentioning)

Gotta say a guy who makes trades to acquire Manning/Clark/Hillis/Marshall/Welker NOT being a canidate is insane! I somehow overlooked this so Im guilty aswell, but Gish did a FINOMENAL job imo.....But that kid in Philly made idiots out of alot of us and is very deserving as a #1.

    BEST IN FREE AGENCY
    1. Giants
    2. 49ers
    3. Broncos

    Easy...

    BEST IN DRAFT
    1. Ravens
    2. Chargers
    3. Chiefs

Not only were his picks awesome, but he made great deals throughout to get these players.

    FEUD OF THE YEAR
    1. Manning Bowl
    2. -------
    3. -------

    MOST IMPROVED GM
    1. Boik14
    2. Skeet
    3. Sean

Yes, you CAN go from good to great and Boik did just that if you ask me.

    ROOKIE GM OF THE YEAR
    1. Finsbuck719
    2. Monstblitz
    3. Machivelli

Again he started low and ended up big, great job for a 1st year GM.

    BEST OFFENSE
    1. Falcons
    2. Titans
    3. Pats

    BEST DEFENSE
    1. Pats
    2. Giants
    3. Chiefs

    BEST RUNNING BACK DUO/TANDEM
    1. Broncos
    2. Eagles
    3. Ravens

Sorry KC as yours has the potential to be far and away the best....but they ARE rookies.

    BEST WIDE RECEIVER UNIT
    1. Falcons
    2. Titans
    3. Pats

When I cant fit a team with A. johnson and R. White on this list, it goes to show you how sick some of these tandems are.

    BEST OFFENSE LINE
    1. Eagles
    2. Giants
    3. Browns

    BEST DEFENSE LINE
    1. Pats
    2. Broncos
    3. Cardinals

    BEST LINEBACKER UNIT
    1. Ravens
    2. 49ers
    3. Panthers

There was a pretty good LB corps from S. FLA who Im shocked wasnt a nominee(Wake,Misi,A.Davis, Graham, Robert Quinn)
But nonetheless the Ravens win this easily imo.

    BEST SECONDARY
    1. Steelers
    2. Chiefs
    3. Eagles

Thanks to all for another great season, it gets me through some boring winter days and Im excited to do it again next year.

Thanks for the nice words Fin-O...And here I thought you might harbor a grudge for not dealing you Hakeem Nicks no matter how hard you tried...which was pretty hard actually.

Yea you held on to him with a firm, firm grip my friend. At one point I offered 2 1st round picks and you still wasnt budging. He is ready to breakout into the elite category imo so you did well keeping him.

And I dont have grudges, lol...people spend alot of time trying to build their teams so I look at the body of work not the poster or what he has said or done in the past, that would be very pathetic imo.

Absolutely. They were two late 1sts and with the way WR's get overvalued in this league I figured that two late firsts wouldnt get me another WR of Nicks caliber especially given Nicks cap hit (under 600k). This wasnt a first where I could have gotten AJ Green or Julio Jones...this was right at the bridge in to round two where maybe Leonard Hankerson would have been an option. No thanks :)

And I would ask for a 1st + Dansby a 3rd, and 4th again only to have you yell at me :)

I disagree with that. In fact what I had to give up for Fitz and Jennings... especially Jennings... that value was less than I originally expected. Sure, you'll always get someone that will value players differently than others. I suppose you could argue that an elite running back isn't going to get the same value as an elite receiver. And maybe thats what you meant. With the touches each player would get, that valuation doesn't make sense.

No, I meant what I said and I stand behind that. This league severely overvalues WR's. Its insane. Look at how much money the FA WR's got. This year and last year; its not an accident.

Agreed but thats just the way this league votes.

Their were a couple FA's that were laughabley overpaid, but having some great WR's never hurt anyone. If manning or Brady had those weopans in real life, u would see amazing results imo.

I dont care I dont value Divas, I like the Hines Wards, I like Steve Breaston, I like Jenkins and Emmanual Sanders. But to each their own.

I won and no matter what the votes turn out wont change that! :tongue2:

Have to agree with Stitches, WRs in general are overvalued in the GML. And I don’t see a correlation between fantasy football WRs and top votes for GM of the Year, I see a correlation between overall roster strength (and quarterback quality in specific) and top votes for GM of the Year.

Obviously the top teams are balanced, but go look at the nominees for best RB duo then tell me if its a coincidence none of those guys are going to come close. Your team needs to flow as a team to get my vote. Your team should compliment eachother.

It's not that it hurts anyone to have good receivers but look at what you offered me for Nicks and look at what you ended up paying for a lesser wr. Just as an example. And you know I'm right because you admitted it. it's not to knock your acquisition; you did what you felt you had to do and it turned out pretty well.

Quarterback, eh? I really should have put God on my roster then... it's a package deal with Tim Tebow. I kind of question what people's thoughts would be had I kept Orton then traded away Tebow. Seems like he is a "like him or hate him" kinda guy.

Go soak about your 4-12 at best team.

Was there an intermediate trade? I honestly didn’t remember. And it doesn’t matter much to me, you would have been better off trading a late pick for David Garrard, IMO.

My Browns are a playoff contender if I’m right about McCoy.
