    1. Darren McFadden, Arkansas

    Height: 6-1 Weight: 211
    College stats: 35 starts, 785 carries, 4,590 yards, 41 TDs; 46 receptions, 2 TDs
    Vital numbers: 4.33 40-yard dash

McFadden is tops on most draft boards and is a surefire first-round selection. He has some off-the-field issues that are of some concern. He has vision and cutback ability which make him dangerous at the next level. His lower body is not up to the standard of Adrian Peterson which separates them in the eyes of most personnel people. He will have to work on techniques to switch the ball from his left hand and also use a better pad level in traffic. He has better hands than his 46 receptions would indicate and his straight line speed makes him a matchup problem when he will be lined up as a receiver against linebackers or safeties. Draft projection: Round 1.

    2. Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois

    Height: 5-10 Weight: 225
    College stats: 14 starts, 388 carries, 2,539 yards, 22 TDs; 59 receptions, 5 TDs
    Vital numbers: 4.45 40-yard dash

Mendenhall is a one-year starter and the limited carries is a plus for teams looking for under-used college backs. I watched the Penn State and USC games and Mendenhall has the power to burst through the line and the speed to have a significant number of explosive plays in the NFL. He has excellent weight room strength and can take contact. Sees the field well and will take advantage of over-pursuing defenses. Many draftable defensive players mentioned him as the best back they faced. Catching the ball is easy for him and an expanded pass attack around him is a strong possibility. He has 397 less carries than McFadden. Draft projection: Round 1.

    here it is

    3. Jonathan Stewart, Oregon

    Height: 5-10 Weight: 235
    College stats: 23 starts, 516 carries, 2,891 yards, 27 TDs; 49 receptions, 4 TDs
    Vital numbers: 4.48 40-yard dash

Stewart had toe surgery recently and it did set back his draft status. He is a powerful runner who likes to describe his style as Jamal Lewis-like. He has the blocking skills to stay on the field on third downs. He has kickoff return skills and will excel in short yardage/goal line situations. He may not make as many people miss as McFadden, Mendenhall or Jones but he will break more tackles. Draft projection: Round 1.

04/10/08 - Three NFL draft prospects are visiting the Steelers today, including projected first-round pick Jonathan Stewart. The Oregon standout is expected to be one of the first running backs taken in the draft that will be held at the end of the month. Stewart recently had toe surgery but he is expected to be 100 percent by the start of NFL training camps. Another running back, East Carolina’s Chris Johnson, is meeting with the Steelers coaches at the team’s South Side facility as is Boise State cornerback Orlando Scandrick. - Scott Brown, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

There is ZERO doubt in my mind that you are exactly correct.

Had Stewart not had surgery, he would by far be the best back coming out. As it is, a team that isnt gonna need him till late this season or next is gonna get the steal of the draft. This kid (Stewart) has ALL the tools. Good speed, great size, excellent hands, is a great blocker and a good leader...

Exactly. Like you said, rare blend of size and speed which is very intimidating when at full force. Also, I believe he holds most of the weight room records at Oregon. He has the BIGGEST thighs I have ever seen to along with HUGE biceps (not including Gholston).

He is also bigger than both of the others (Stew is 235, while Mendenhall is about 220 I beileve and McDad is a measly 210- 185 of which is above his beltline) while still having good speed. He is also known for being a very good blocker.

You are right, Stewart is 235, seems all muscle if you ask me. I think McFadden ( McDad ) is not going to be able to be a full time back in this league which I think should raise concerns to teams who want to take him top six.

I have NEVER seen anybody with LESS prolevel talent/attributes get so much praise.

Mc (Illigetimate)Dad that is. He is gonna really have a tough time at the next level I think...and with his style and profile isnt gonna last long either.

I agree. I honestly have never been a fan of McFadden. I thought he was good in college but questioned his future in the pros. In my opinion, I think Felix Jones can be just as good if not better than McFadden, which is why you dont see Jerry Jones trading up to get him because he said he could just draft Jones.
