    I'll make it short.

I bought a wireless g router. Connection was terrible.

I bought a wireless n router. Connection still terrible.

I had an old wireless b router that worked like a damn charm. Fast connection all the time.

Why is it that my laptop can't connect to any of these "high powered" routers? It is very frustrating. I got everything set up but I can't even surf the internet it's so painfully slow.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

What manner of wireless card do you have CCM?

    "B", "G" or "N"?

"N" routers have to be run in compatability mode to use the older cards.

Sounds like the B router is running on a different channel than the G and N routers. It's possible the other routers are experiencing interference.

Well, first things first, have you uninstalled the Wireless B router software?

It sounds like a software conflict to be honest.

Uninstall wireless "B", turn off your computer and put the install disk for the wireless "N" router and reboot the thing.

There's nothing to uninstall. Unless I can't find it.

I looked there. There's nothing with "Linksys" or "Wireless Router" or anything like that.

There is no software. You're using windows built-in wireless connection.

    For the router?

Your approach is to plug in the Router and let windows find it and then install native hardware for it?

Nothing wrong with that amigo, somehow I think his old router stuff is giving him problems though.

Right. There's no software needed for the router when you're using windows built in connection.

Login to the router using 192.168.1.1 and see if you can find out what channel your B router is using.

Yeah, there was no software. Just an installation CD.

This is exactly why I decided to just forget about the router and go with the wireless modem. Its get so maddeningly frustrating.

Did you try changing channels on the router? I think most routers are set to channel 6 by default. Change it to channel 11 and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks. I messed around with the channels and it seems like smooth sailing so far. :hi5:
