It's crazy to see the level of variance in the opinions out there.

Personally, I think he played par for the course. He overthrew some receivers, but he also made some great throws (the TD to Hartline was awesome). I think as he starts to become more confident in his arm and being able to dial in on those receivers, he'll do a great job.

He's going to get a real trial by fire next week though with the Jets, but I'm still optimistic and liked most of what I saw yesterday.

Edit: And most importantly, his passing was noticeably better as the game progressed. He'll get better at eating the sacks (or maybe just turn into Roethlisberger and throw people off of him) I think, at the moment that's the only thing I really see that sticks out about him.

Henne played well for his first start, hopefully he will grow. It's pretty apparent that we are really lacking in the WR department, hopefully we fix this in free agency or the draft next year. No one on our team scares anyone. Bess is good, but more suited for the slot.

I was very impressed with Henne. He showed great leadership abilities and was very calm and collected, which is a very good sign considering it was his first ever start. Yeah, he missed a few throws but he also made a lot of nice ones. A lot of zip on his passes.

He was also very smart. Didn't take any unnecessary chances and tucked the ball and ran a few times. A lot of good signs. He pretty much showed everything you want to see in a franchise QB. I'm very high on Henne and this was a great start.

Yeah, there were at least a couple of those sacks that were unavoidable, but he's got to get better at getting rid of the ball. Every team is going to go blitz happy on him simply because he's a first year starter.

All in all, he performed competently.

I like how he had that Marino-esque pissed off look for most of the game.
