    The thwarted Illinois attack in this report was aimed at a federal courthouse that is literally a block away from my apartment. Scary.

    Crazy stuff. This terrorist plot was doomed from the beginning though. Anyone dumb enough to take aim at Springfield, IL was not too bright to begin with.

    Dallas I can understand, but Springfield? Did they get lost on the way to Chicago and say "Ah, **** it. This is close enough"?

    Actually, you'd be surprised at the level of tourism we get. Particularly, Asian tourist go ape**** for Abe Lincoln.

    Here's a visual aid that should explain why I was a little freaked:

    You haven't been here I have a feeling :lol:

    People here would just as soon shoot a terrorist as eat breakfast.

    Dang brother Steve, that is very close indeed :yes:

    Glad they were able to thwart this threat.

    I have to say, our homeland terrorist guys are definately doing their jobs

    Yeah, I see your point, although Downtown Dallas isn't nearly as congested as saayyyyyy Phoenix.

    I think the Dallas thing was directed as a particular building cause of the it was a financial institution.

    EDIT: Actually, the building was Fountain place which is a HUGE building, so yeah that did indeed play a part in it.

    Judging by the graphic provided, Dr. Z lives in a Fortress of Solitude. A veritable Bat Cave. He and his cape would have emerged from the attack unscathed.

    Dude, the Dallas building is beautiful. That and being 60 stories tall alone makes it a mark.

    Actually, that's not far from the truth. We live in an English basement, so the view out our window is half a brick wall.

    We are surrounded by:

    • to the west, our apartment complex courtyard;
    • to the north, a kickass sandwich joint called "Two Olives Cantina";
    • to the east, a popcorn shop, an art store and a Jimmy John's; and
    • to the south, another apartment with a very vocal infant

    So no, no Bat Cave. But there are three bars (including a sports bar with NFL Sunday Ticket) within a block of my apartment. So I have that going for me.
