7-0 already because of an Adrian Peterson run. While watching Peterson break loose, it looked to me that he's packed on some more weight/muscle on his lower body, specifically his thighs. Also, what a great run play by Antoine Winfield.
Nice shoe-string tackle by Ray Edwards. You'd think that guy would do some damage as a pass rusher with Allen opposite of him and the Williams wall in the middle but he's done very little. Same goes for Brian Robison.
Its interesting how much different it is with Chester Taylor in the game and then when Adrian Peterson is in. When Peterson is in the game, its a much faster pace after the snap. However when Taylor is in, the play is slower at developing. I think its why they run so much off tackle stuff with them to. I also think it might have to do with the difference in vision between the two tailbacks. I've seen two players line up offsides tonight, both on the Texans interior defensive line but no calls have been made. Also, the Texans defensive tackles line up exactly on the line of scrimmage while Mario Williams lines up about a foot or two off the line. I'd think they are going to have a stunt play between Okoye and Williams eventually but nothing so far from what I've caught.
The big signing Antonio Smith does not look impressive, IMO. Over-pursuing against the run and then not collapsing the pocket. When they signed him, I felt like they would have to move him inside to defensive tackle because I don't find him to be a quality pass rusher. In Arizona, he was a 1 gap, 3-4 end I believe and only managed 14.5 sacks in 39 career starts.
Well, the Texans dealt fmr #15 overall Travis Johnson to the bolts and apparently Amoki Okoye is considered something of a bust at DT after a good first half of 2007. And gruden made a good point about how many yds Alex Gibbs coached olines have gained in the last 10 yrs, something like 20,000
I don't know but that Texans defensive line is doing him some favors to boot. I don't understand some of the ways they've lined up tonight. They've left gaping holes in the middle of their defensive line.
Edwards is really more of a Run-stopping DE. He can shed blocks pretty well. Brian Robison is more of a pass rusher and he is actually pretty good. I think he could start for alot of 4-3 teams.
Yeah but you'd think the guy would develop a pass rush move to get some sacks and possibly earn a nice paycheck at the end of his contract. Like this, he's going to be playing for a couple million for the rest of his career instead of three times as much. I read earlier this off-season that Minnesota considered cutting him because he was not living up to expectations and could not beat out Edwards for the starting job. That worries me.
I thought he was injured? I know Brice McCain played and didnt' do much other then a big hit on Sidney Rice from what I noticed.
I guess it's due to my lack of knowing about football when I was a young gap but I just know him as a Green Bay Packer in my memory. I didn't start really watching football seriously until a couple years back and only now do I realize the absurdity that is him playing in a Vikings uniform. Back then, though, it was just "Brett Favre is a Packer". I know what play you are talking about! The announcers even agreed! And I agree! I think Favre tried to hide a surprised look on his face because I don't even think he thought it was roughing the passer.
Adrian Peterson will break most all time rushing records if he can stay healthy. This guy is incredible.
