Can anyone help me with my problem? I'm 16 years old, and I can't find a job. I applied to 3 different Targets, they all said no. Then I found out I need work papers. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?
i think you need to get papers from your school or township in order to work. theres a ton of restaurants in Philly. try to get a job bus-boying or cleaning dishes. it'll probably be off the books.
This will be my first job, so will the effect me getting hired? With no experience, I don't think anyone would hire me.
you can get a work permit from your high school (at least that's where I got mine) I got a job in a grocery store, they always seem to be hiring. or you could go to your local mall and ask around if anyone is hiring. good luck
I would call the school during the day. there should still be a secretary there or someone who can at least point you in the right direction. its more of a work permit. i don't remember the specifics but something about labor laws and minors required a working permit in PA, at least when I was there.
If your under 18 most states will require a work permit. Also have large restrictions during schooltime. For that reason it can sometimes be tough finding a job before turning 18. Grocery stores are a good start though. Also, if you know anyone at a potential worksite, get them to talk to the manager and promote you a bit. Sometimes a well placed word goes a longer way than anything.
Try starting out as a Busboy at a local restaurant and work your way up to serving. You'll be grateful later on when you have experience being a waiter. Helps you learn to deal with people and its quick cash.
Busboy has been stated a couple of times, I will re-iterate it. Good job, you can make tips, and if you are competent and trustworthy you can become a server when you hit 18.
