A mid-2nd rounder seems like a rather small price to move up 15 spots in the 1st round. I understand the contacts given to top 10 selections are restrictive and all, making those picks less valuable, but this proposed deal seems rather ridiculous, no?

This story is BS. There is no tighter ship in the NFL than the one run by Bellichek. What's Peter King's source? A barrista at the Foxboro Starbucks!??!

But is the ship down in Jax just as tight?

Could it be possible that this would only be the first of two deals, with the goal of moving into the Top 4 and landing someone like Aaron Curry?

Think it's just more pre-draft misinformation GARDENHEAD? Hmmmm. Reckon you're probably right. Thought it a bit unusual myself. But, stranger things have come true. One thing is for sure...we won't have long to wait to find out. ;)

They did move up last year to get Jarod Mayo...

I have a feeling they are eyeing B.J. Raji... They could use him in a 3-4 rotation and then have him replace Vince Wilfork next season because Wilfork is a Free Agent and said he wouldn't be back if he didn't have a new contract extension.

A small part of me is wondering if they want Sanchez, but I doubt it.

If its a surprise then I say one of the Tier 1 Runningbacks.

I heard its likely a OT a Guy like Andre Smith or Oher.

Not a chance. If they really wanted Cushing that badly, they would only need to move up about 6-8 spots-not into the top 10.

Wait....is this some type of "inside" joke that I missed? If so, my apologies.

The best part of all this is Peter King will come out and say it was a "genius move to trade up to get the player they want" even though he called them geniuses for NOT wanting a higher draft pick in return for Matt Cassel because of the extra cost of higher draft picks.

    Pete King is a donkey.

I think the "surprise" player may be Crabtree. Here's an update:

Belichick being interviewed on NFLN, and said the chance of them moving up is "less than zero." When asked if he thought they might trade down from #23, he said teams have been inquiring about the pick.

    FWIW...

Why would they trade up, the Pats are in an awesome position in the draft. If they stand pat they have tons of early picks to build up an aging team. They might trade down and get even younger but I would doubt they want to trade up unless some team is willing to just throw the pick away for next to nothing.
