Madden Team Ratings – Comparing Starters When choosing a team to play with before a game of Madden, there is an overall rating attached to each team as you scroll through. Arizona has been my favorite team in Madden since early December. But their rating is 78, which I felt was bogus. Meanwhile Pittburgh has a weaker offense, and supposedely a stronger defense, and they are a 95. I decided to compare them side by side to see how they reall stack up. Here's my results, you be the judge. Arizona (78 overall) vs Pittsburgh (95 overall) QB Warner – 95 Roethlisberger – 93 HB James – 85 Parker – 87 FB Smith – 88 Davis – 83 TE Pope – 78 Miller – 91 WR Fitzgerald – 99 Boldin – 95 Breaston – 85 AVG – 93 Ward – 92 Holmes – 85 Washington – 78 AVG – 85 OL Gandy – 94 Wells – 85 Sendlein – 73 Lutui – 79 Brown – 85 AVG – 83.2 Starks – 78 Kemoeatu – 79 Hartwig – 82 Simmons – 86 Colon – 79 AVG – 80.8 DL Smith – 85 Berry – 88 Dockett – 94 Robinson – 82 AVG – 87.25 Smith – 95 Keisel – 84 Hampton – 96 AVG – 91.7 LB Dansby – 94 Hayes – 89 Okefor – 85 AVG – 89.3 Woodley – 88 Farrior – 96 Foote – 84 Harrison – 98 AVG – 91.5 Secondary Rodgers-Cromartie – 88 Hood – 87 Rolle – 89 Wilson – 98 AVG – 90.5 Taylor – 93 McFadden – 86 Clark – 86 Polamalu – 98 AVG – 90.75 K Rackers – 82 Reed – 86 P Graham – 74 Berger – 79 ARIZONA AVG OFFENSE – 86.75 PITTSBURG AVG OFFENSE – 84.42 ARIZONA AVG DEFENSE – 89.00 PITTSBURG AVG DEFENSE – 91.27 ARIZONA AVG STARTER – 87.04 PITTSBURG AVG STARTER – 87.28
I think the team ratings are bogus. Not to mention Ronnie Brown has a speed rating of 91, which was Lewis's speed rating last year (Brown's running back), and Ricky has an 89. Also, Ronnie hardly ever breaks tackles...unlike guys like Thomas Jones, Norwood, Barber, or pretty much any other RB in the game.
I'm sure depth is factored in somewhere, not just starters. I'd bet there is a complicated formula too, averaging the starters is far too simple.
Are they frauds? Yes and no... They don't update team ratings except once, at the end of the year. However the player updates are/were frequent. They simply don't post the new team ratings.
Well thats interesting, yes. However, i think that the backups and depth players factor in to this equation as well. Not that i think that by factoring that in is going to justify the overall difference between the two overall ratings... it probably will have a bit of an effect. interesting comparison though
