1st one is pretty good. lacks steals and could use a Utility upgrade over Loney. Dont know if you have enough hitting otherwise. 2nd team is also very good. Big question will be figgins playing time/health at 2B and pitching depth. That team can really slug; nice job bro.
Good pitching for the 1st team. Good offense for the 2nd team. Too bad you can't put the two together. As Boik said, keep an eye out for steals in the 1st. Blalock could be expendable as a trade option. I'd dangle Nady first as trade bait. And for an Angels fan, you sure have a lot of Dodgers.
That 2nd team might be the best auto draft team i have ever seen. I have no clue how you managed to get Braun and Sizemore
The other owners must have been asleep at the wheel.... I wonder how mine stacks up? To Don Shula, I like your team but I think you have way too many Dodgers and bench players on the team. And not enough pitchers, especially set up guys since the league counts holds. Overall though the autopicks worked out all for you. To BigDogs, you really screwed me up with the Utley pick. I was banking on stealing him in the 2nd round and you got him 1 pick before it was my turn. I was in a panic and now know what it must feel like to be Arod in a big spot, I think I choked with picking Longoria as my 2nd rounder, he might be a bit of a reach. Overall though I like your team, nice balance all around.
You can never have too many Dodgers and Angels. I cannot draft a Red Sox player on principle and I've managed to make #1 or #2 consistently. Yankees, I don't like but don't mind if I have to draft one.
I dont know how I ended up w/ so many Dodgers lol. I noticed the hold thing after, I'll make some moves to add pitching. Some decent options still available in FA.
Guy in my first league just dropped Nate Mclouth for Delmon Young...cant really explain how something like that happens, but I have the top waiver priority so McClouth is now UTIL and Loney is out! The first Dodger goes down lol.
I just don't like having more than 2 hitters in my line up being on the same team, especially in H2H leagues. Personally I have no problem drafting anyone from any team, I'm in it to win so I could care less if Arod, Ortiz, Jose Reyes or Jimmy Rollins helps my team win.
Holds are pretty easy to get as there are always tons of guys out there to get, so it's no big deal. And yeah you had the pick either before or after me so I kept noticing the computer picking Dodgers for you. I thought it was pretty funny.
Soon as I saw my team I laughed. I usually try to stay away from having a lot of players from the same team, and of course the comp has to play a cruel trick on me by making them Dodgers. Just looked at your team. You should have holds pretty locked up w/ Putz/Arredondo and Gregg. Not to mention they could all swipe some saves.
Never hurt me one bit. I still win. I usually try not to draft Red Sox players. The one time I did last year, he became a Dodger.
I love Arredondo. I'm hoping Gregg is the closer though in Chicago. I figure between Arredondo and Putz I could get a couple of cheap saves as well as a ton of holds.
Hope the Utley gamble pays off....was surprised AROD went in early 1st round...was thinking of stealing him as well.... You stole Lackey from me (honestly, of all my pre-draft mock targets that was the only one that was taken from me on draft day)...nice job. I feel I panicked by grabbing AJ in his place...oh well. Looking forward to it. And thanks for your rules guidance as well.
I think the Utley pick come be the steal of the draft to be honest with you. He's a top 5 pick and should be ready to go close to opening day. Looking back on the draft I made some panic picks too. And no problem with the rules, guidance etc. Happy to help.
Getting Longoria anywhere in round 2 is fine bro. I took him 13th overall in an 18 team league, meaning I not only used a 1st round pick on him in a league where there is literally nothing left in free agency but also have high expectations for him. They say he's a David Wright clone and thats what i saw last year. He may not contribute the steals Wright gets but I see no reason Longo wont put up something along the lines of: 295/35/110/100runs in a lineup that is pretty well stacked. However Utley in round two is outright robbery. I took him 5th overall in one of my pay leagues and didnt think twice about it. He's the best offensive player at the leagues shallowest position for offense (yeah it's even worse then catcher imo) and hes a reliable 300-30/100/10-15sb/100+ runs. You dont find productivity like that from many players at all let alone 2B.
I still think Jedi Ninjas (unlucky), Your Squad (Finkle), and possibly Cubphins are the teams to chase. Lots can change as the games begin, but on paper, based on projections of the CATs you each have solid teams and contributions up and down the roster.
If Gregg does win the closing job Marmol will help me w/ holds, so all would not be lost. Might actually work out better for me in that case.
I think all of the teams are very even. I'd personally like a little more power in my line up. I do love my pitching staff though, I'm still shocked I got some of those guys really late in the draft. Pitching is extremely deep this year.
Team 1 update: Some guy dropped Nate Mclouth, as I mentioned, so I dropped Loney and picked him up. The guy then dropped Chris Davis to get Loney, and I also got Chris Davis. So my question is who do you start at Util and who should I bench? I'm thinking of benching Werth or Hunter; guess it'll just depend on who's hot. Also, would you think of dealing one of the 1B to beef up another position? I'd probably wait a bit to see about injuries and who starts hot/in a slump and maybe get more value. Team 1, 10 team league, had the 10th pick C- Posada 1B - Howard 2B - Kinsler 3B - Youklis SS - Pheralta OF - Lee OF - Granderson OF - Hunter Util - Werth Util - McLouth Bench - Davis SP - Lackey SP - Oswalt SP - Liriano RP - Soriano RP - Jenks P - Bedard P - Lester Bench - Wang Bench - Maine
I could foresee an upgrade in the bench for SP. Lackey would hit DL so you'll need more than Wang or Maine to fill in. McLouth oughta help you if Werth and Granderson underperform. I'd wait before trading. Usually, unless it's a really great offer, I don't offer trades until the first 2-3 weeks.
Haha, this is true. Good win for you this week. It's a lonnnnnnnnng season though. I should have told Beckett to throw at some of your player's heads.
Wow...somehow, not 100% sure, but somehow, our league says I pulled off the 1st place trophy. Woot....flags fly forever!!!!!
I think it's because your team name started with a B while mine started with an R. And I'm being completely serious, I think that's why. Either way it was a fun year, congrats BigDog. Hopefully we can do it next year.
